Crayola Color Wonder
Color Wonder, also sold as Color Wonder Mess Free Coloring, are specialized dyes that only work on Color Wonder paper. It was first released in 1993 as markers, and later as paints, fingerpaints, paintbrush pens, and scented stamps. A single Magic Light Brush color applicator was later introduced. When the dye is applied to the paper, the color will slowly appear. It does not change color on other surfaces, which takes the interest of parents wanting to keep their spaces clean from paint.
The Color Wonder markers and the containers of Color Wonder paint dye will produce colors when applied to the special paper. Each color is a chemically different dye. A Crayola CreaTiVe Workshop video said that the Color Wonder finger-paint can be used on all other Color Wonder products, meaning the dye they've used has remained the same - the Magic Light Brush is not needed for the dye included with it. The dye can be mixed but do not mix like regular paint - the dyes will slowly appear in different orders, and merge together. A bright yellow dye result and a bright blue dye result will mix and appear as an off muted green instead of a brighter green.

For Color Wonder, there are various components in a dye color, which are suspended in an emulsifier, and react to chemicals in the paper when they come together. Each dye color has different chemicals to produce the different colors. The list of chemicals they use on their patent (US7727319B2) all have sterically available oxygen. It is most likely the paper is treated with Lewis acid, which would take these oxygen electrons, causing the chemical reaction and slowly creating the color. It is also possible there are multiple chemicals treated on the paper that the dyes react to differently.
