I always need to download my backup file from minecraft realm so I could isolate my building and clone it into my list of buildings personal minecraft world.
2GB takes like 15 minutes, and that is a long time, since I am doing it every week.
Obviously I am hoping for some easy answers.
But if you guys are going to point me in the hard direction, which is deleting chunks from my minecraft world, can you like give me some links to tutorials that shows the physical act of doing so, since I am too dumb to understand it otherwise.
I am probably going to delete chunks from the netherworld to avoid destroying other realm players' houses, so if you have advice on how to avoid deleting other players' house in the overworld, that would be helpful too.

Data is data. The game saves get large as the world size gets larger. Therefore, deleting chunks is your best and most effective answer, yes.
I'm not sure of methods that exist to delete chunks besides those that rely on third party applications, some of which aren't able to handle modern versions. You can do this manually by just deleting the region files. but you have to do it on a larger scale then. and you may also need third party programs (map programs like UnMined work) to see what region is where. And if you're dealing with a lot of regions, but also want to save a lot, it can be exhausting in both time and mental regards to track it all.
If you want to target specific dimensions, that's simpler. The overworld data is stored in various folders in the main save folder. The other two dimensions have their own folder. The "DIM1" folder is the end dimension, and the "DIM-1" folder is the nether dimension.
Keep in mind there are various folders within these, too. The chunks themselves are in the "region" folder but there's more to it than that in modern versions, which split things up now.
The "POI" folder holds the data for "point of interest" things, like blocks villagers recognize (beds, profession blocks, etc.) as well as nether portal locations. It was a real confusion for me when I went to trim my 1.16 world for 1.18, and also deleted these POI regions, but deleted a few too many. So one of my villages was no longer registered, nor was the nether portal registered there. The actual BLOCKS remain. but the game doesn't have certain functions set anymore. So trying to go through a nether portal leading there kept constructing a new one every time (it was a room underground, and it kept constructing one above ground right above it). I was confused why, until I was wandering the village and saw a pillager patrol spawn WITHIN the village. Then it made me get the clue that certain things possibly weren't registered anymore and that my recent deletions may have involved a mess up.
Then there's also the entity folder which, you guessed it, stores entities (mobs, villagers, and maybe some others). Again, updated a very old 1.10 world to 1.18, and I forgot to delete the entity file for a given region, but deleted the region file. The result was land that used to be land (extreme hills and plains, namely) was now ocean. So visiting it the first time and forcing it to generate caused a comical sight; entering an area close to the chunk caused the old entities, like sheep, pigs, and cows, to show up in the air (remember, they were on a mountain) and then just. fall into the ocean.
As always, backup your stuff and perform these changes on "scratch versions" so if something goes wrong, you can undo your mistake.
