I can t allow the demanding style of the female singers voice to distract me from enjoying some of the best written vocal melodies of the 70s though a band like Be Bop Deluxe or Electric Light Orchestra are also very talented pop bands. The tape actually stopped playing a couple times, and you know what goes through your mind when a tape suddenly stops- you think the tape has been permanently damaged with the tape string all ripped out and tangled around the wheels of the cassette player.

You know, Abba is one of those bands that many people find unlikeable, and while I can *easily* see why someone would hate this band (obnoxious female vocals that are both constantly loud and up front) I really have a hard time ignoring the catchy vocal melodies. I can’t allow the demanding style of the female singers voice to distract me from enjoying some of the best written vocal melodies of the 70s (though a band like Be Bop Deluxe or Electric Light Orchestra are also very talented pop bands).
The selection of songs is perfect. Funny story- I actually have this album on a cassette tape. The tape is in SUCH bad condition that, while the music is playing, high pitched squeaks and squeals can be heard in the background. The tape actually stopped playing a couple times, and you know what goes through your mind when a tape suddenly stops- you think the tape has been permanently damaged with the tape string all ripped out and tangled around the wheels of the cassette player. Luckily that didn’t happen with THIS experience, but I’ve had that happen plenty of times in my life, haha.
Sorry, I got distracted didn’t I? Anyway, for some reason NO ONE has reviewed this brilliant album, and that’s mind-boggling to me. It contains 16 songs, everything from “The Name of the Game” to “Mamma Mia” to yes, “Dancing Queen”. I have no idea why we can’t see those songs listed on this page, but trust me, the song selection is perfect for someone just getting into the band.
