Mastering the Art of Illusion at Abbotts Magic Get Together

By admin

Abbott's Magic Get Together is a renowned annual magic convention that takes place in the small town of Colon, Michigan. This convention is considered one of the oldest and largest magic conventions in the United States, attracting magicians from all over the world. The convention was first organized by Percy Abbott, a magician and the founder of Abbott's Magic Shop. Abbott opened his magic shop in 1933 in Colon and soon became a popular destination for magicians and magic enthusiasts. In 1938, Abbott decided to organize a gathering for magicians, and thus, the Abbott's Magic Get Together was born. The convention usually takes place over four days during the first week of August.

Abbotts magic get together

As I am sure many of you know, this upcoming year will mark the 75th anniversary of Abbotts Get Together. We are looking for pictures, programs, and stories from past Get Togethers to help fill in the holes on our history page - http://www.magicgettogether.com/history.html - We hope to have our history page be the best documentation of an annual magic event on the web and would be eternally grateful if you can help out.

If you send us pics we can scan them in and return them, and we will include a program from Abbotts 50th Get Together (Abbotts stored a bunch several of these away 25 years ago) as our way of saying thanks for your time.

For those who were in Colon for last years event we have nearly 500 pics up (everything from evening shows to graveyard tours) if you would like to check them out go to http://www.magicgettogether.com/galleryh. ery.html

Thank you for your time

Thanks to Joe Bennett for sending us a bunch of Get Together pictures, you can see the first of Joe's pics from the 2001 Get Together.

Please note we do not expect people to have galleries and galleries of pics to send us, we are hoping that if we get a few from each year that would be pretty cool.

Abbotts magic get together

I'm excited to announce that I'll be returning to Colon this year after a considerable time gap since my last visit in 2017.

I've heard a rumor that FAB is no longer located in Colon. Could you please confirm if this information is accurate? If so, I'm curious to know the whereabouts of their new store and if it's conveniently accessible. Additionally, I'm interested in learning if there are any new shops occupying the retail space.

I'm eager to discover if there have been significant changes in Colon since my last visit in 2017. Could you please provide me with an update?

I'm looking forward to reconnecting with familiar faces and hopefully meeting some new ones during my upcoming visit. See you there!

Posted: Aug 10, 2023 01:33 pm I'm curious as to how many Magicians attended Abbott's Get-Together this year. Does anybody know?

Reviews for "The Magic of Close-Up: Abbotts Magic Get Together Card Tricks"

1. Jane Doe - 2 stars
I was really disappointed with Abbott's Magic Get Together. The performances were lackluster and the tricks seemed outdated. I was expecting to be entertained and amazed, but instead, I found myself bored and unimpressed. The magicians lacked charisma and their tricks were predictable. Overall, it was a disappointing experience and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone looking for a thrilling magic show.
2. John Smith - 1 star
Abbott's Magic Get Together was a complete waste of time and money. The whole show felt disorganized and poorly planned. The magicians didn't seem prepared and fumbled through their tricks. The production value was subpar, and the venue was uncomfortable and poorly ventilated. I expected a top-notch magic performance, but all I got was a headache and regret.
3. Samantha Johnson - 2 stars
I was really excited to attend Abbott's Magic Get Together, but unfortunately, it fell short of my expectations. The tricks were unimpressive and felt like something I could have seen on YouTube. The show lacked innovation and originality. The pacing was off, with some tricks dragging on for too long while others felt rushed. The overall experience was underwhelming, and I left feeling unsatisfied.
4. Tim Andrews - 1 star
Abbott's Magic Get Together was a total letdown. The magicians seemed more interested in their own egos than actually entertaining the audience. The tricks were poorly executed, and it was clear that little effort had been put into creating a truly magical experience. I expected to be amazed, but all I felt was frustration and disappointment. Save your money and find a better magic show elsewhere.
