The Abenobashi Magical Shopping Street, also known as Abenobashi Magical Market, is a Japanese anime television series produced by Gainax and directed by Hiroyuki Yamaga. The series follows two childhood friends, Sasshi and Arumi, as they find themselves transported to different parallel universes within a shopping street called Abenobashi. Each parallel universe they visit represents a distorted version of the Abenobashi Shopping Street. From feudal Japan to a futuristic mecha world, every universe is uniquely themed. The main objective of Sasshi and Arumi is to find their way back home to their own world, but they are constantly faced with new challenges and adventures in each universe they travel to. Described as a comedy, the series combines elements of satire, parody, and fantasy.
Universe Eight: It looks like they are back in their own time BUT Arumi is a small child and Sasshi is mobbed by impossibly cute schoolgirls in impossibly cute school uniforms. I’m not going to say, “BOOM. Harem.” because you already figured that out.
A case in point is Abeno Ginza shopping arcade, which was torn down at the Turn of the Millennium and replaced by a trendy shopping mall, complete with a Krispy Kreme Doughnuts shop and the Osaka branch of Shibuya 109. In the Fairy Tale episode, Sasshi creates a mini, teddy-bear-headed creature with little angel wings, entrusted to be guardian of a certain magical girl.
