The Power of Belief in Anna and the Magic Coat

By admin

Once upon a time, there was a little girl named Anna. She lived in a small cottage on the edge of a magical forest. Every day, Anna would venture into the forest to explore and play. One day, while wandering deeper into the woods, she stumbled upon a beautiful coat hanging from a tree branch. Curiosity getting the better of her, Anna couldn't resist trying it on. To her amazement, the moment the coat touched her skin, it began to shimmer and glow.

Gifts for kineticists

Looking to give some special loot for the characters in my game and there are two characters that are giving me some trouble. I'm looking for gifts in the 15-20k range with a little special twist.

1st Character is a (pyro)Kineticist/Summoner. He wants to use flaming swords and is currently feeling like his character isn't doing enough and that the eidolon is carrying him.

2nd Character is a (hydro)Kineticist/Mesmerist. She has just started to play with the mesmerist side of her character, but is still primarily a kineticist.

Are these multiclasses characters or gestalt?

A +2 belt of Dex/Con for each of them would be nice (10k), or a +4 belt of Dex or a +4 belt of Con (16k) would be nice as well. Other than that, Kineticists don't have a lot of cheap beneficial magic items available to them by way of weapons and attack/damage potential.

A custom magic item could be that flaking sword that could take advantage of the user's kinetic blast at the same rate as maybe kinetic fist (+1d6 X damage per 3 damage dice if kinetic blast minimum 1d6).

Ah, the problems of selecting presents. I sympathise.

If either of them has kinetic blade then boots of speed would be good, especially for the one who wants to use flaming swords. Vambraces of the genie would be appropriate and possibly useful.

Armor is another possibility. Enchanted eelskin might be useful to a hydrokineticist. In that price range special abilities up to +3 are possible, maybe sensing armor or an animated shield.

As far as custom items go maybe something which grants a particular wild talent or infusion? Kineticists never have enough.

Does the Mesmerist already have a Mesmerizing Tattoo?

If he wants to use a flaming sword, and not just "a kinetic blade that's made out of flames" it would probably be fair to houserule a magical sword that "channels" your kinetic blade wild talent reducing the burn cost by 1 (i.e. to 0). A kineticist is generally going to be better off using their kinetic blast as a weapon than actually using a weapon, so this is a good way to make those two things not compete so much.

If you're fine with custom items:

A glove that reduces the burn cost of kinetic blade and kinetic whip by 1. 1 (or 3) times a day it can be activated as a free action to ignite into blue flames. Blue flame composite blast can be used for 0 burn for the turn.

Not sure what the water kinny has but something like: Soft coushined gloves that for 3 times a day kinetic healer can be used for 0 burn.

Pathfinder Adventure Path Subscriber

Well in the spirit of 3.5. a kineticist equivalent of the Dragon Spirit Cincture or Chasuble of Fell Power. something that raises the # of dice or DC of a kinetic blast.

Or as others have mentioned, anything that reduces burn, either constant or x/day depending on the power level of your game.

I'm gonna toot my own horn here for a sec and recommend the Kineticists of Porphyra series, if you're running/allowing 3pp. The second book in particular has a pretty hefty quantity of magic items designed for use by kineticists, with a few extras in the third book as well. There's also a tattoo in Legendary Kineticists that would thematically fit your Hydro/Mesmerist perfectly.

If you're looking for other items, conductive ranged weapons would be fantastic, and if you're willing to houserule conductive to allow kinetic blasts on melee weapons, you've got your Pyro/Summoner's flaming blades sorted. Another option might be to give him a unique magic ring or somesuch that allows his eidolon to be transformed into a sword, granting him the eidolon's physical stats while it's wielded but consuming 1 burn per minute that it remains in that form, or something that allows his eidolon to accept burn in his stead. For the Hydro/Mesmerist, perhaps an item that allows them to completely ignore AC granted by Dex and dodge bonuses for water blasts against victims of their painful stare or hypnotic stare? Whether gestalts or multiclassed, if you're looking to do unique magic items, it would make a lot of sense IMO to try and tie the two classes together.

They are gestalt.

Yes stats would be helpful, but not unique. Also they can get those easily as the game progresses.

I like the boots of speed idea, he is playing 2 3/4 base classes which will put his melee way behind the other melee characters. Also I feel that he needs some way to attack during attacks of opportunity.

The mez tatoo is interesting, but she isn't really the diplomacy member of the party. The once a day suggestion as a spell like ability may be onto something though.

He wants to use kinetic blade. That is the main reason he wants to play a kineticist. I'm thinking something that keeps his Kinetic Blade/whip around for multiple turns and can grant him an extra attack X times per day (like using ki for flurry does).

Custom items are ideal. Starting with something similar is good, but I'm looking for unique items. Burn hasn't been a problem yet though.

Hydro kineticist doesn't want to heal anyone. (she plays a healer in wow, she's been very against playing a healer in PF)

Trying to avoid a strait add x damage as that doesn't have a unique feel to it. Also trying to make it more unique between the two of them so they feel less like they are playing the same character.

Onyx- Yes, I think I will get those books asap (probably not in time for this though). Combining the 2 classes would be awesome. I like the idea of ignoring dex/dodge for the target of the stare, but wouldn't that make it 10AC for most everthing as it already ignores armor?

If that's the case then I'd recommend my glove idea for the fire kineticist. The burn cost reduction is just a nice little QoL if he's melee focused which can help him pick bigger substance infusions to go with his blade/whip.

For the water one, I'm not sure how her build or character is like so I'm not sure what kind of item would be good. Is she water or ice and what infusions does she have?

You can use gauntlet of physial might +4 would be nice.İt is an item in PFS but it is a scenario specific item. But it is offical and you may use it if you want.

As our reader points out, before the liturgical reform there was a much wider use of cassock and surplice by both clergy and lay ministers for the celebration of sacraments and sacramentals such as Benediction. Indeed, the use of the alb would have been primarily for the celebration of Mass.
Anna and the magic coat

As she continued to wear it, she discovered that it bestowed her with unique powers. Whenever she wore the coat, Anna could fly through the air effortlessly and become invisible at will. Excitement consumed Anna as she explored her newfound abilities. She flew among the treetops, watching the birds soar beside her. She performed amazing aerial acrobatics, joyfully leaping from branch to branch. Anna even snuck up on her friends, becoming invisible and surprising them with her magical powers. But as time went on, Anna began to realize that her magic coat had a greater purpose. She observed that whenever she used her powers to help others, her coat grew brighter and more vibrant. This inspired Anna to become a superhero of sorts, using her abilities to help those in need. She would use her powers to rescue lost animals and find their way back home. Anna would secretly deliver food and supplies to the poor families living on the outskirts of the forest, ensuring that they had enough to eat and stay warm. She would also comfort those who were sad or lonely, listening to their stories and offering words of encouragement. Anna's acts of kindness and bravery did not go unnoticed. The townspeople began to refer to her as "Anna, the girl with the magic coat." Her story quickly spread, and soon people from all over the land sought her help. As word of her selfless deeds spread, an evil sorceress caught wind of Anna's magical coat. Envious of Anna's abilities, she plotted to steal the coat for herself. The sorceress hatched a plan to ambush Anna and take the coat by force. But Anna, sensing danger, always remained one step ahead. With her wit and bravery, she outsmarted the sorceress and kept her precious coat safe. She continued to use her powers for good, bringing happiness and hope to all those she encountered. And so, Anna and her magic coat brought joy and light to the world, inspiring others to be kind and courageous. As long as she wore the coat, Anna vowed to use her powers to make a difference and ensure that goodness always triumphed over evil..
