I'm GMing a ''comedy campaign'', and I've had the idea of a big treasure chest holding some kind of spirit that curses the PC's with a pointless curse when they manage to free him from the chest.
Okay, so I actually stole it from Paper Mario.
The thing is, I can't think of a useless curse to bestow upon the PC's. Giving the PC's the ability to transform into a paper plane isn't exactly what I'm looking for, you know. I was thinking of giving them a bonus to stealth, while the evil spirit goes on about how terrible it is for them that nobody can hear them approaching.
I was wondering if anyone else has some ideas.

The ability to turn Copper into Tin? So it makes all the cps they buy ale with useless, so they have to leave giant tips whenever they get thirsty!

They all grow extra fingers, making their old gloves useless?

They see a giant (illusory) whale hovering over their heads that will drop on them the next time they eat fish sticks.

A meteor that only they see follows them around so it can kill their next opponent to deny them the satisfaction?

A deep and terrible curse of the elven tribes of old that causes any meat eaten to taste of grape jelly and garlic. (They were humble vegetarians)

. I mean, yes, technically they are but. the curse is believing you are cursed with no other adverse effects.

Well, what you're pretty much doing here is the "cursed with awesome" routine, where the curse is really a blessing, but there should still be some curse mixed into it such that the characters who get it regret it slightly. Not enough to ever want to get rid of it, mind you, but make it not quite all positive.

My thought is that the spirit in the box, on encountering a typical party of adventurers, would curse them by raising their dump stat to an obscene degree. Something like this:

Spirit cackles. "Fools! You have released me! I who can see what you desire most and want least! You, wizard! You hunger for magic and power and spells, or so you think, but I see deeper and know what you truly desire--the admiration and respect of your wizardly peers! Well, I curse you such that you shall never have it and no one will ever take you seriously as a wizard!" Spirit raises wizard's Strength to 20+ giving him the bulging muscles and form of a cartoon barbarian. "And you, fighter! So blissfully unaware of anything other than the glory of battle! Well, I take that bliss away and let you understand the true picture!" Spirit raises fighters Intelligence to 20+ and packs his skills with stuff like Knowledge History and Knowledge Nobility and Royalty including all the dirty details of historic warfare. The Spirit then goes on to give the Paladin a huge bonus to pickpocketing, the rogue a holy aura, and the necromancer the ability to talk to small woodland creatures that will follow him around like Snow White, completely ruining his reputation. For extra bonus points, make these "curses" things that other members of the party would kill to have but of course they don't get to exchange their gifts.
