Crafting Powerful Weapons in the Terraria Witch Hut

By admin

A witch hut in Terraria is a type of structure that can be found in the game's world. It is a small, rectangular building made of wood and located in the underground jungle biome. These huts are home to the Witch Doctor NPC, who can be freely moved into a player's home by talking to him. The Witch Doctor sells various accessories and items that are useful for players, especially during boss fights and exploration. One of the most popular items that can be purchased from the Witch Doctor is the "Tiki Totem," which grants players increased defense and other buffs when placed in their inventory. In addition to the Witch Doctor, witch huts often contain other jungle-themed items and furniture.

I think that Which's Huts should be more useful, because all they really had is a cauldron and a crafting table, but I took them. So what to make the swamp biome interesting, is for the Which's Huts to spawn with a cat 30% of the time. The cat would be purple with blue spots. So lets find out how to get it.

The witch that spawns in the hut won't despawn anymore, and there would be two witches. They would instead have 40 health. If you defeat them, the cat would spawn. The cat has a ton of uses. The Which's Huts would also be 10% rare.

1. The cat can forcefield you. It would only last 5 seconds, and would happen every 10 seconds. This can make it so that any damage done to you would be 20% off. An example would be if a skeleton shot you, you'd lose about 2 hearts without the forcefield. Thus if you had the forcefield, you'd lose 1 heart.

2. It can attack creepers AND scare them. The creepers would be too scared they wouldn't blow up. So if they got killed by the cat, they can drop their normal drops. The which cat can also make it so that if the creepers explode, they'd do no damage to the cat itself. So good thing your cat wont die every time that creeper blows.

3. It can put potion effects on itself (Heals 1 heart every 4 seconds). This one would make it so that they might not fall into a hole and die because of AI glitches. They can drink any potion the witch can. So you'd have a little buddy when you are bathing in the lava with your fire resist potion. LOL.

NOTE: Ocelots has a 0.01% chance to tame into a which cat.

20% multiplicative damage resistance isn't much, especially when it's that unreliable (and in actuality, you wouldn't take 1 of damage, it would be 3.2 damage; aka, slightly more than a heart and a half). It might sound significant, except iron armor is a constant 60% damage reduction and doesn't rely on a follower that might get in the way of things or end up teleporting into a solid block and suffocating or something. With armor the bonus steadily becomes more meh as it would provide 68% damage reduction in iron armor and 84% damage reduction in diamond (although by that point balance is wrecked anyway).

Attacking creepers is decentish I guess although it's not like they're a threat very often and a normal cat would suffice for getting them off your back.

Putting potion effects on itself is alright.

The rare chance of an ocelot turning into a witch cat is so low that it might as well not be there. Let's leave crazy RNG odds to Terraria (not like I want it there either, though. )

Overall it's an okay suggestion. The concept itself will run into problems, as adding any additional damage reduction for the player tends to be either meaningless or overpowered. Killing creepers and only creepers is also a pretty niche use as creepers tend to kill themselves pretty effectively and are pretty much defenseless if caught before they can sneak up on a player with an iron or better sword.

I was kind of hoping to see a different suggestion when I came here. I don't really like the force field idea, the creeper idea is alright. And the 3rd part is a bit eh. I also think the colour should be different. Why not just the black cat skin? Or maybe another one that's fully black or something.

Partial Support, I suppose.

there is much, much, much more rarer stuff than that. ( the ocelet tame chance to witch cat)
i totallysupport you this would be aweosme. i think you meant 50% damage off. but i think the forcefeild should be longer with longer recharge time. but there also could be another force feild of attack damage of 30%.

They'll still spawn, though the ones that spawn naturally in the which's huts won't despawn. Rollback Post to Revision RollBack

Not really? Closest thing in rarity that I can think of is a dragon egg, and it's not even that hard to get; it's just that there's only one of them. Maybe a natural iron golem. Either way the chance is so low that it's almost never going to occur so there's no reason to have it there at all.

Hmm, not a bad idea. I would like to see this implemented.
The witch won't despawn anymore,That's a problem since witches are hostile creatures and can despawn if turned to peaceful or if you're from a certain distance from them. and there would be two witches. Why two. Why not one. Anyways, I guess it could be some sort of rare percentage for two witches to spawn. They would instead have 40 health. Why. Wouldn't they be considered a separate mob? If you defeat them, the cat would spawn. The cat has a ton of uses. The Which's Huts would also be 10% rare.

1. The cat can forcefield you. It would only last 5 seconds, and would happen every 10 seconds. This can make it so that any damage done to you would be 20% off. An example would be if a skeleton shot you, you'd lose about 2 hearts without the forcefield. Thus if you had the forcefield, you'd lose 1 heart.

So you'd have a little buddy when you are bathing in the lava with your fire resist potion. LOL.I consider nearly all of these ideas a little OP. Mostly because you have provided little information about how they would spawn and how rare. If it was rare, I would like to see a little of these ideas implemented. If they are slightly common, then I disagree.

NOTE: Ocelots has a 0.01% chance to tame into a which cat. That is more rare than a natural pink sheep. and possibly even a Killer Bunny.

Responses in bold. Overall, I was expecting something else, and not something with a large purpose. I was expecting a cat to just spawn and be there, that's it. But now I see that it would have more uses instead.
Quarter support.

It is in fact, ten times rarer then a killer bunny, which has a 1 in 1000 chance of spawning. A cat will have a chance of 1 in 10.000 of transforming, way too rare in my opinion. It will just never happen because the chance is so low.

They also spawn 30% in which's huts. Rollback Post to Revision RollBack

Everything seems alright, except the forcefield. Although having this cat is pretty OP, as it can heal itself, and it only attacks Creepers, so you essentially just have an invincible cat.
Dunnu, doesn't seem right. Doesn't feel like it would fit. Sorry, no support.

I know Minecraft is a sandbox game but no matter what forcefields should never ever be in the game no matter what

This is pretty OP and redundant considering you can just throw a splash potion on any mob and it will gain that effect.
NOTE: Ocelots has a 0.01% chance to tame into a which cat. Completely redundant that is 10 times more rare than the killer bunny which has a 1 in 1000 chance to spawn in the wild.

Responses in bold. My biggest problem with this is that witch huts are already extremely useful you can use them to farm glowstone, redstone, bottles, sticks, and even gunpowder. You can also if turned into a 1 hit kill farm, use it to farm potions. They are literally the most OP farm in the game so I personally don't think they need anything else. Here is a tutorial on how to build a witch farm using the witch hut's spawning box it is by Docm77

Brimstone Witch

The Brimstone Witch is a post-Moon Lord NPC vendor that will spawn once the following conditions have been met:

  • There is an empty house.
  • Supreme Witch, Calamitas has been defeated.

When threatened by enemies, she will defend herself with Brimstone Hellblasts.

In addition to the Witch Doctor, witch huts often contain other jungle-themed items and furniture. These include items like potted plants, tiki torches, and jungle-themed banners. Players can also find treasure chests with valuable loot inside the huts, making them worth exploring.

Beyond their functional aspects, witch huts also add visual interest to the game's world. The combination of the wooden structure set against the lush green surroundings of the jungle biome creates a unique and atmospheric setting. Overall, witch huts in Terraria are important structures that provide players with access to useful items and a visually appealing addition to the game's world. Whether it's for their functionality or their aesthetics, these structures add another layer of depth to the game's exploration and progression..

Reviews for "Defending Against the Witch's Minions in Terraria's Witch Hut"

1. John - 1 star
The Terraria witch hut was a complete disappointment for me. Firstly, the location was difficult to find and I wasted a lot of time trying to track it down. Once I finally stumbled upon it, I was underwhelmed by the lack of content and overall atmosphere. The layout was cramped and confusing, making it difficult to navigate through the hut. The few witches present didn't offer anything unique compared to other NPCs in the game. Overall, I found the Terraria witch hut to be a wasted opportunity and not worth the effort to seek out.
2. Sarah - 2 stars
I had high hopes for the Terraria witch hut, but unfortunately, it fell short of my expectations. The design of the hut itself was aesthetically pleasing, but that's where the positives ended for me. The interior lacked any interesting features or interactions, making it feel like just another empty structure in the game. The presence of witches was also underwhelming - they didn't offer any new quests or valuable items, just generic dialogue. I was hoping for a more immersive experience, but instead, I was left feeling bored and disappointed.
3. Mark - 2 stars
The Terraria witch hut had potential, but it ultimately felt like a missed opportunity. The location was difficult to find, and once I found it, the interior felt lackluster. The witches present didn't have any unique abilities or quests, simply serving as generic NPCs. I was hoping for more magical elements or interactions within the hut, but it was just another ordinary structure. Overall, I was left wanting more from the Terraria witch hut and felt that it didn't add much value to the game.
