SDG&E was one of the pioneers in turning off the power to their customers when the wind blows and has been doing it for years. They floated the idea in July, 2009 after their power lines started three massive fires in 2007 , the Witch Creek, Guejito, and Rice Canyon Fires, that burned more than 198,000 acres, destroyed more than 1,500 homes, injured 40 firefighters, and caused two deaths. The company figured up to 150,000 people could be affected by a proactive power outage in 2009.

The turbine was scheduled for generator main bearing and collector ring replacement and IPS Wind Turbine Services was on site as of Monday, July 25th to effect repairs and replacements. It seems as if everything costs more and that has become very apparent to the Lamar Utility Board when dealing with rising costs of equipment purchases.

I was extremely disappointed with the Witchcraft Canyon Electrical Outage today. Firstly, there was a lack of communication and information provided about the outage. When I called the helpline, the staff was unhelpful and rude. Secondly, the outage lasted much longer than expected, and there was no indication of when the power would be restored. This was a major inconvenience for me and caused a disruption to my work and daily routine. Overall, I found the entire experience to be frustrating and poorly managed.

The Witchcraft Canyon Electrical Outage today was a complete mess. Not only did they fail to give prior notice about the outage, but they also failed to provide any updates during the process. It's unacceptable to leave customers in the dark, quite literally, without any information on when the power will be restored. The lack of communication and organization was disappointing, and I hope they learn from this experience for the sake of their customers' convenience and peace of mind.

I had high expectations for the Witchcraft Canyon Electrical Outage today, but unfortunately, it fell short. The lack of preparedness and communication was evident throughout the entire process. It took hours for someone to finally provide us with an estimated time of power restoration, which was far from accurate. The inconvenience caused by this outage was unnecessary and could have been avoided with better planning and customer service. I hope they improve their procedures for future outages to avoid disappointing their customers.
