About Us

Growing up on the Wirral and in Germany, Anna wrote plays about talking animals, and stories about naughty children, and drew on every available surface. While some of the acts are decent others seem like they re stuck in the 80s I could not get past the constant background music that played through the entire episode.

Never boring magical stuffing polish

I checked out an episode because magicians Barry and Stuart were on it and I'm a huge fan. While some of the acts are decent (others seem like they're stuck in the 80s) I could not get past the constant background music that played through the entire episode. Not only was it mixed WAY too loudly, to the point of actually making it difficult to follow what the acts were saying, but it was cheesy; it killed the mood; it was distracting and was completely unnecessary in the first place.

It's a shame because this show could do a lot to promote magic, especially new and fresh acts, but the execution is just terrible. They need to fire their sound editor. It's OK to kill the music during a performance, and pick music that is more appropriate and less cheesy when there's a reason to have it.

I have fond memories of growing up watching the original run of this show. Unfortunately, it seems that the producers of this new version seem to be suffering from extreme adhd. It took me a couple of episodes to realize that it wasn't a clip show. It has been overly edited, with really bad cameras and cutaways that often cut just slightly too late allowing the TV audience to see a flash of how the tricks work. Another problem is that the acts are almost carbon copies of the original series. no innovation. Same tired tricks that were explained in the secrets revealed series. Most rushed with little craft.

While it may contain more performers than Penn and Teller's Fool Us, it lacks the continuity and polish.

It seems they intentionally want the show to appear cheesy, cheap with cheap acts, every now and again there is a winner but few and far between.

There is one thing that I hafta say. It is that I find "Masters Of Illusion" to be a beautiful show to watch & it's all because of the magicians whom come on the show to showcase their magical talents, entertaining the audience including Dean Cain himself. I remember watching this show on MyNetworkTV when I was a little boy & it was so amazing. I'm also happy that The CW usually airs this show during Saturday Nites & that makes me feel good. I even like the background music which plays when the performers do their magic tricks & this ("Masters Of Illusion") happens to be the same show I decided to watch tonite as opposed to wasting my time with watching some stupidity called "The Kids Choice Awards".

Watching this show is like eating popcorn. Delicious popcorn. You can't get enough. You keep stuffing more and more into your mouth and still you can't get enough. It's fun. It's fast. It's magic! OK,so some people take the title too seriously and object that these aren't really "masters" of magic. Uh, that's called salesmanship, kids. Don't take it so literally. Some of the magic on this show is truly amazing. Some of it is kind of cheesy. But it's all good. Oh, and one more thing. You want beautiful girls? This show has more beautiful girls than any other show on TV! It's retro. It's future. It's now. It's cool. It's hip. It's jazzy. So watch, relax. and enjoy the magic!

Not really worth waiting through commercials to watch and card tricks are so overdone if they pull out a deck it's fast forward time. Some of the illusions are great but it seems like a lot of filler acts are included. Lots of magic tricks lost their appeal when I figured out one of the greatest tricks ever at the 'Dixie Stampede' in Pigeon Forge Tennessee. If there's the quintessential beautiful girl barely wearing a costume just remember good things are often a matched set. Who knows if she has an identical twin??

Who knows if that random audience member has been training for months to appear with different magicians on different shows?

Fun and Interesting, great show for family watching. Gives magicians an opportunity to show their skills and entertain and amaze viewers. Dean Cain always represents everything good about America , and doesn't disappoint here. My Kids and grandchildren love this show. I've been around way to long to be fooled by most "magic" but some of these entertainers surprised even me. The show is fast moving and never boring, the magicians don't over stay their welcome. Masters of Illusion is not Masterpiece Theater but it is a way to spend a small part of an evening of pure escapism. There isn't many Variety shows on television any more, the kind of stuff you would watch on the Ed Sullivan Show but this is one of them. Like I said "Great Family Show" , give it a chance if you are looking for a little fun, but don't take it too seriously.

The magicians who come in dont even try to impress the audience.. they just show some magic and run off the stage. this is supposed to be a better show than fool us but these people arent even trying. they seem to be funded a lot to even give a damn about the show. this is a really sad show. the producers and directors should be ashamed of themselves.. god given opportunity and they throw it in the trash.

Reviews for "Ace Ventura Takes on Mischievous Mascot with Side-splitting Results"

1. Jennifer - 2/5 - I was really looking forward to "Ace Ventura goes up against mascot" as I loved the original movie, but I was left extremely disappointed. The plot was lacking in substance and the humor fell flat. I found myself cringing throughout most of the movie, especially during the forced comedic moments. The overuse of slapstick and juvenile jokes made it difficult for me to enjoy the film. Overall, "Ace Ventura goes up against mascot" failed to capture the charm and wit of the original, and I would not recommend it to fans of the franchise.
2. Mark - 1/5 - As a fan of the previous Ace Ventura movies, I had high hopes for this installment. Unfortunately, "Ace Ventura goes up against mascot" completely missed the mark. The plot was nonsensical and lacked any depth, relying on cheap gags and crude humor that felt out of place. Jim Carrey's performance, which usually shines in this character, felt forced and lacked the natural comedic timing that made Ace Ventura so endearing. It's a shame that such a beloved character was mishandled in this film. I would advise fans to skip this one and stick to the original movies.
3. Sarah - 2/5 - "Ace Ventura goes up against mascot" felt like a cash grab rather than a genuine attempt at continuing the Ace Ventura saga. The jokes were recycled from the previous films and the plot was predictable and uninteresting. The movie seemed to rely too heavily on the popularity of the character rather than delivering a fresh and engaging story. While there were a few moments that brought a chuckle, overall, it felt like a wasted opportunity to bring back a beloved character with new and exciting material. Save yourself the disappointment and watch the original movies instead.
