Game 52: Killer Bunnies and the Quest for the Magical Carrot

Game needs a re-skin and some tighter rules. With those changes, it might be fun. Maybe.

Killer Bunnies is a silly save yourself/ screw your neighbor card game. The goal is to be holding the magic carrot at the end of the game. At the end of the game, 1 random carrot will be determined magic. The more carrots you have at the end, the more likely you are to win. It is as simple as that.

From there, you draw cards that put bunnies in play, which are similar to mana from Magic: The Gathering. In order to play most cards, you must have a bunny out in front of you. Of course, most of the cards that require a bunny are used to kill other players bunnies, leading to a vicious cycle of no one having bunnies, to everyone, and back to no one.

Cards are all unique, and often humorous ways to harming your opponents, either through roasting their bunnies on spits, to chopping them up with swords, to bunny black holes. Most of the time, the opposing player needs to roll 1 die and hope for a high number.

the game uses a unique queuing system where the cards you set down this turn wont be played until 2 turns from now, which is often ill timed. for instance, I have a bunny out, so i play a card face down that will come out in 2 turns, that requires me to have a bunny. well, 1 turn from now, my opponent kills my bunny with a fly swatter. When my turn comes up, I can do nothing with that card that required a bunny, other than discard it. One player at our table had this happen toi him for most of the night.

We all know I'm not a huge fan of random, and this game is nearly entirely up to luck of the draw. It also drags, based on the cards that are drawn, creating that nagging sense of boredom that comes from frustrating top decks. The last thing I would change would be the theme. The bunnies aren't that fun of a theme to play. I'm not saying it needs to be serious, but something like Scribblenauts skins would make this game much more interesting.

Reviews for "Amupet: A unique twist on the traditional graphic novel format"

1. Sarah - 2 stars - I was really disappointed with the Amupet graphic novel series. The artwork was subpar and the characters looked nothing like how I imagined them from the original cartoons. The storyline was also lacking and felt disjointed, with events happening without any clear explanation. I was hoping for a fun and nostalgic experience, but instead, I just felt bored and let down.
2. Michael - 1 star - I couldn't even finish the first book in the Amupet graphic novel series. The writing was dull and uninspired, and the humor fell flat. The dialogue felt forced and unnatural, and the characters lacked depth. It's a shame because I had high hopes for this series, being a fan of the original Amupet cartoons, but it just didn't live up to expectations.
3. Elena - 2 stars - As a longtime fan of the Amupet franchise, I was excited to dive into the graphic novel series. However, I found it to be a major letdown. The artwork was inconsistent and sometimes looked rushed, and the storytelling was messy and confusing. The series seemed to rely too heavily on nostalgia instead of offering a fresh and engaging experience. Overall, I was disappointed and wouldn't recommend it to other fans of the Amupet franchise.
4. Alex - 2.5 stars - While the Amupet graphic novel series had its moments, it ultimately fell short for me. The artwork was decent, but nothing extraordinary, and the characters felt one-dimensional. The storylines lacked depth and originality, often relying on predictable tropes and repetitive plotlines. It was a missed opportunity to create something truly engaging and transformative for fans of the Amupet franchise.
