I’ve been in love with witches for such a long time. My first in counter with witches, like many, was the wizard of oz. this colorful and creative movie was the coolest thing I’d ever seen. They had the WIcked Witch of the East who was crushed by a house, Glinda (who I loved more played by Lena Horn in the Wiz but I digress), and of course the baddest witch from the west side. This green mean machine was the most. No matter how hard Dorothy tried to stay away WWW was going to avenge or sister or die trying.

Following the wizard of oz came my next witch obsession in the mid 90s. Led by the one and only Sabrina Spellman, Melissa Joan Hart, Sabrina the Teenage Witch told the story of a teenage girl who discovers she’s a witch and has to learn how to use her powers. I was so into Sabrina it made no sense. I followed the storyline obsessively and could wait to see what shenanigans she’d get into. Sabrina brought out the cool side of being a witch. I wished I could be her so bad. Like snap my fingers and my chores are done. SIGN ME UP!! I love this show so much one Christmas all I asked for was Sabrina things. Yes, even that fake “magic” phone. Gosh I loved that phone so much.

After Sabrina came the wizarding world Harry Potter. I loved Harry Potter because my interactions with the magical world weren’t limited to infrequent trips to the linen closet. Harry Potter opened the doors wide on and welcomed us deeper into his magical world with each page. Wands, brooms, and of course witches filled each magical story in a way that seemed so real. I longed for the day that the letter would come shimmying down the fireplace to declare “you’re a witch, Tiffany”. Le sigh

If your goal for his Halloween is to keep it classic then this witch look is definitely what you need. Keep scrolling for all of the details.

Your child is truly a lover of the classics. She forgoes anything "fancy," "modern," or "technical," favoring instead the simple, streamlined, and steadfast. She's not into social media, or the newest comic book film; she prefers to rewatch the classic stories she knows and loves. She's heard that there's some big hoopla about a boy wizard out in the world, but she's never really been interested in him. To her, the only witches that matter are those from Oz.
