It was a place where dreams came true and fairy tales came to life. The island was adorned with lush green gardens, blooming flowers of every imaginable color, and majestic castles that glistened in the sunlight. Its sparkling blue waters surrounded the island, inviting visitors to dive into its magical depths. As the name suggests, the Pretty Princess Magical Garden Island was a haven for princesses.

As you play Pretty Princess Magical Garden Island , you ll unlock a wide variety of items; many of which are cosmetics both literally and figuratively. It doesn t always offer the depth of an Animal Crossing installment, but there s a novelty to going through some tasks, waiting a 15-30 minutes, then gradually building up and decorating Carrot Isle.
As the name suggests, the Pretty Princess Magical Garden Island was a haven for princesses. They would arrive from far and wide, with their stylish gowns and sparkling tiaras, to experience the wonders of the island. Each princess was assigned a personal fairy godmother upon arrival, who would guide them through the mesmerizing gardens and grant them wishes.

Believe it or not, this game is actually a sequel (or spinoff) to one I reviewed a couple of years ago! In the first game, you play as a girl who gets whisked away to a world inhabited by rabbit people. You get transformed into a princess and the rabbits need your princess magic to help rebuild and decorate their castle. The game was pretty much a rip-off of the indoor decorating aspects of Animal Crossing, and the sequel rips off pretty much everything else from that title. In the sequel, you and your princess friends decide they want to try some Princess Cake. Your rabbit butler knows an island where you can get the ingredients. So now you set off for that island, where you’ll farm, fish, and gather materials to build shops and farms so you can make more things to restore the island to its former glory. The game even uses the same ‘rolling log’ viewpoint that Animal Crossing does!
When you land on the island, your princess friends and rabbit butler set up some shops in a central square. You can buy seeds and plants, craft buildings and bridges, and make new clothes and hairstyles. Another friend lets you sell excess material you don’t need. Your rabbit butler has requests that you can fulfill, and when you do, you’ll earn experience points and money. When you get enough experience points, you’ll level up and can do more things.
The game is also a bit like Harvest Moon in that you can till the land and plant seeds and wait for them to grow. You’ll use the crops to feed chickens, sheep, and cows to get eggs, wool, and milk. You can also hit trees for wood and fruit, and catch bugs and fish, too. You’ll use all these things to fulfill requests and build shops where you can craft more things. While you must wait about five minutes or so for things to grow or regenerate, the game doesn’t have a day/night cycle or any other passage of time like Animal Crossing does.
My only problem with this game is that they show you pictures of the things you need to craft for requests, but they don’t tell you what it is or how to make them. And the text can be too small in places. But as an avid Animal Crossing fan, I even found myself a bit addicted to this game, at least for a little while. So if you have younger girls who love Animal Crossing, they might like this one, too.
Kid Factor:
Pretty Princess: Magical Garden Island is rated E for Everyone with an ESRB descriptor of Alcohol Reference. I don’t remember seeing anything like that when I played, but I’m sure it’s just used for cooking purposes. Even though the controls are simplified for younger gamers, reading skill is still a must for all the text. And I think kids would rather play Animal Crossing anyway, but if they can’t get enough of that, here’s another one for them!
This does mean certain steps are removed from the process to make it a bit “easier.” Chopping trees doesn’t result in deforestation. You just need to wait a bit before you can get wood from that particular one again. Animals don’t need to be fed or purchased. So there’s less responsibility. You don’t need to talk to animal visitors beyond waving to them once per day to earn gratitude points. Likewise, the sidequests from them appear in a menu and aren’t as “in the moment” as the requests from villagers in Animal Crossing. You also don’t need to wait many real-world days to begin unlocking things. The process is rather streamlined and speedy, which is good for less patient players.
The gardens of the island were unlike any other. They were filled with rare and exotic plants that emitted fragrances that whispered secrets of love and happiness. The vibrant colors of the flowers danced in harmony, creating a breathtaking spectacle for all who entered. It was a place where princesses could lose themselves in the beauty of nature and find solace in its tranquility. Hidden among the gardens were small, magical creatures such as fairies, unicorns, and talking animals. They would accompany the princesses on their explorations, offering advice and sharing their wisdom. The unicorns would allow the princesses to ride on their backs, soaring through the skies and feeling the wind in their hair. In the heart of the island stood the grandest castle of them all – the Castle of Dreams. This magnificent structure was home to the queen of the island, who was known for her benevolence and wisdom. Princesses would gather in the castle's ballroom for grand balls and elaborate tea parties, dressed in their finest attire and adorned with precious jewels. But the magic of the Pretty Princess Magical Garden Island did not end there. It was said that hidden deep within the island was a well that possessed the power to grant the deepest desires of those who dared to visit it. Legend had it that if a princess made a wish at this well, with all her heart, it would come true. The Pretty Princess Magical Garden Island was a place of wonder and fantasy, where princesses could escape from the real world and immerse themselves in a realm of magic and beauty. It was a place where dreams truly came alive and happily ever afters were guaranteed.
