Perhaps it s the leaping between time and character, but these opening scenes are difficult to get into, and Tea doesn t prove an entirely compelling protagonist. Tea starts out as a lowly maid, bowing to the whims of the more experienced ashas, but after a cruel trick is played on her, her education is sped up when she proves to be far more powerful than anyone had thought.
No one knows the origin of this curse or how to break its hold.
