RS3 Divination Guide

Divination is a unique gathering skill in RuneScape 3, allowing players to harvest energy from the environment and create a variety of helpful items. This comprehensive guide aims to provide you with the necessary information and tips to master the art of Divination in RuneScape 3.

To begin training Divination, you must complete a short tutorial with Orla Fairweather at the Divination Camp, located just south of the Draynor Village lodestone. She will teach you the basics of harvesting wisps, converting memories, and creating items using divine energy.

Wisps are floating energy nodes found near Divination colonies throughout Gielinor. To harvest wisps, simply click on them and you will begin siphoning energy and memories. As you level up, you will be able to harvest higher-level wisps, which yield more experience and valuable resources. Each wisp will last a certain amount of time before disappearing, and you will need to click on a new wisp to continue harvesting.

After harvesting memories from wisps, you can convert them into energy or experience at an energy rift. There are three conversion options:

  • Convert to energy: Receive divine energy and a small amount of experience.
  • Convert to experience: Receive more experience but no energy.
  • Convert and weave: Combine memories with energy to create portents, signs, and other items.
  1. Training Divination:

The most efficient way to train Divination is by harvesting the highest-level wisps available to you and converting memories for experience. It is recommended to focus on leveling up as quickly as possible to unlock better wisps and energy types.

Here is a list of Divination training locations, ordered by level requirement:

  • Pale Wisp (Level 1): Draynor Village
  • Flickering Wisp (Level 10): East of Varrock
  • Bright Wisp (Level 20): South of Seers' Village
  • Glowing Wisp (Level 30): West of Catherby
  • Sparkling Wisp (Level 40): North of Mobilising Armies
  • Gleaming Wisp (Level 50): East of Shilo Village
  • Vibrant Wisp (Level 60): East of Canifis
  • Lustrous Wisp (Level 70): South of Sophanem
  • Brilliant Wisp (Level 80): North of Mage Training Arena
  • Radiant Wisp (Level 85): Dragontooth Island
  • Luminous Wisp (Level 90): South of Elf City
  • Incandescent Wisp (Level 95): South of the Poison Waste
  1. Portents and Signs:

Portents and signs are Divination-created items that provide various effects, such as automatic healing or item collection. Some notable examples include:

  • Portent of Restoration: Automatically heals you when your health falls below a certain threshold.
  • Sign of the Porter: Teleports collected resources directly to your bank.
  • Sign of Life/Death: Revives you upon death with a certain amount of health.
  1. Useful Items and Boosts:
  • Divination outfit: Increases experience gain by up to 6%.
  • Diviner's outfit: Increases experience gain by up to 5% and provides additional benefits if you own the Divination outfit.
  • Divination urns: Collects energy while you train and provides bonus experience upon teleporting them.
  • Enrichment aura: Increases the chance of harvesting enriched memories.
  • Wise perk: Obtainable via Invention, provides up to a 4% experience boost in any skill.
  • Familiars: The Light Creature familiar provides a 10% chance to harvest twice as much energy and the Nightmare Muspah familiar can store harvested memories.

Divination Daily Challenges and D&Ds:

  • Daily Challenges: Complete assigned tasks, such as gathering a certain amount of energy, for bonus experience and rewards.
  • Guthixian Cache: A Distraction & Diversion that occurs every hour, where players can collect memories and deposit them in a cache to gain points and Divination experience.

Additional Tips and Tricks:

  • Use bonus experience, experience-boosting outfits, and auras to maximize your Divination training efficiency.
  • Harvest enriched wisps whenever they spawn, as they provide double the experience and resources.
  • Join a Divination-themed Friends Chat to find active training locations and socialize with other players.
  • Use the "convert and weave" option when creating portents and signs to level up faster.
  • Prioritize unlocking the Sign of the Porter as it is a valuable tool for training other gathering skills.
  • Complete quests that reward Divination experience to give yourself a head start.

Divination master cape

The Divination master cape is the cape awarded for achieving True skill mastery by reaching virtual level 120 (equivalent to 104,273,167 experience) Divination. Its appearance is different from regular skillcapes, but master capes do not have a separate, unique emote from their level 99 skillcape counterpart. The cape is sold by Orla Fairweather or in the Max Guild by Elen Anterth for 120,000 coins.

Master capes were voted on in a Power to the Players, where the option to add them won with 63%.

Combat stats Edit Perk Edit

The Divination master cape inherits the perk of the base cape: it boosts a spring's minimum duration by 30 seconds, one time per spring. This effect does not stack with that of Ethereal Connection.

Up to three perks of the capes of accomplishment can be added to the max cape, the completionist cape, the trimmed completionist cape, and their master versions. Up to two perks of the capes of accomplishment of a specific skill type can be added to the respective Expert cape of Accomplishment. This can be done by using a Cape of Accomplishment with the desired perk on one of the capes. The cape of accomplishment is then lost in the process. To make space for other perks, it is possible to later remove the added perks, but with no reimbursement. All of the added perks are shared among max cape, completionist cape, trimmed completionist cape, and their master versions, thus it is not possible to have different configurations of perks on the different capes.

          Divination cape

The Divination cape is the Cape of Accomplishment for the Divination skill. It can be bought for 99,000 coins alongside the Divination hood from Orla Fairweather, who can be found near the Draynor jail.

Its colour scheme was decided by the players in a Guaranteed Content Poll which ran between 25 July and 6 August 2013. There were 6 different options for the cape's colour and trim. Of these, Option 6 won by a significant margin, with 41% of the votes.

The cape has an emote which lasts for 6.57 seconds, during which the player changes into a wisp and flies around in one circle before changing back. The cape must be worn in order to perform this emote.

Should a player achieve skill mastery in a second skill after Divination, the Divination cape will turn into a Divination cape (t), which is the trimmed version of the original cape. The Divination cape (t) has a dark turquoise trim.

The divination hood can be attached to the cape by using one on the other, creating either a hooded divination cape or a hooded divination cape (t). It can be detached with a right-click option.

Talking to Orla Fairweather gives an option to toggle the appearance of the cape to a retro version, overriding the normal appearance and making it look similar to how it did before the 2015 graphical update. Despite it not being a new item, the retro cape can be used with a dragon keepsake key.

In some cultures and folklore, the witch's curse is considered to be a form of black magic. It is believed that once the curse is cast, it cannot be easily undone or lifted. The curse is believed to linger over the person or their descendants, causing them to suffer for generations.

          Perk [ ]

The Divination cape's perk gives non-enriched wisps a fixed 30 second lifespan when harvested from unless combined with the Ethereal Connection buff from the Memorial to Guthix which boosts the duration further by 10 seconds to a total of 40 seconds.

Up to three perks of the capes of accomplishment can be added to the max cape, the completionist cape, and the trimmed completionist cape and up to two perks of the capes of accomplishment of a specific skill type can be added to the respective expert cape of accomplishment. This can be done by using a cape of accomplishment with the desired perk on one of the capes. The cape of accomplishment is then lost in the process. To make space for other perks, it is possible to later remove the added perks, but with no reimbursement. All of the added perks are shared among max cape, completionist cape, and trimmed completionist cape, thus it is not possible to have different configurations of perks on the different capes.

The fixed amount of time without any boosts added (Ex. Fading memory) is 30 seconds for each wisp with the Divination cape equipped. This can be extended to 40 seconds with Ethereal Connection buff from Memorial to Guthix. This does not extend the duration of enriched wisps.
