Elevating your guitar playing with the Seymour Duncan Green Spell pickup

By admin

The Seymour Duncan Green Spell is a guitar pickup created by the Seymour Duncan company. It is a signature pickup inspired by the tone and playing style of the guitarist Devin Townsend. This pickup is designed to capture the powerful and dynamic sound that Townsend is known for, while also allowing for versatility and expression in a variety of musical styles. The Green Spell pickup features a combination of vintage and modern design elements to achieve its desired tone. It has a high-output design, which means it produces a strong and aggressive sound that is perfect for heavy rock and metal genres. However, the pickup also has a vintage-inspired character that adds warmth and depth to the sound, making it suitable for blues, jazz, and other styles as well.

The GM is a moderately hot bridge pickup & if you choose the neck version, it's more moderate than hot. The magnets here are Alnico 2 & it's voiced to be a scooped sounding performer. There are currently three versions available, black, zebra & covered.

The Green Magic set recreates this magical out of phase sound by flipping the neck pickup s magnet to reverse the phase when combined with the bridge pickup. Seymour Duncan had already made a name for himself as the pickup guy by the time pickup modding had become a well-established practice in the late 70s.

However, the pickup also has a vintage-inspired character that adds warmth and depth to the sound, making it suitable for blues, jazz, and other styles as well. One of the unique features of the Green Spell pickup is its split-coil design. This means that the pickup can be split into two separate coils, allowing for single-coil tones in addition to the humbucker sound.

Reviews for "Unleash the sonic possibilities of the Seymour Duncan Green Spell in your studio recordings"

1. Lisa - 2 stars
I was really disappointed with the Seymour Duncan Green Spell. The sound was completely flat and lacked any real character. I tried adjusting the settings and experimenting with different guitars, but nothing could make this pedal sound good to my ears. The controls were also quite limited, and I didn't find them very intuitive to use. Overall, I would not recommend the Green Spell to anyone looking for a versatile and dynamic overdrive pedal.
2. Mark - 1 star
I regret purchasing the Seymour Duncan Green Spell pedal. It produced a lot of unwanted noise and interference, even when I used it with a high-quality power supply. The build quality was also not up to par, as the pedal started to malfunction after just a few weeks of use. The tone was mediocre at best and lacked the warmth and depth I was expecting. Save your money and look elsewhere for a more reliable and better-sounding overdrive pedal.
3. Sarah - 2 stars
The Seymour Duncan Green Spell was a huge letdown for me. I was expecting it to add some extra sparkle and grit to my guitar tone, but it just ended up making everything sound muddy and lifeless. The EQ controls were not very effective in shaping the tone, and I found it challenging to dial in a sound that I liked. The pedal also seemed to color the tone too much, and I couldn't achieve a transparent boost as advertised. Overall, I would recommend exploring other options before settling on the Green Spell.
4. Robert - 3 stars
The Seymour Duncan Green Spell did not live up to my expectations. While it did provide a decent overdrive sound, it lacked the versatility that I was hoping for. The controls felt a bit limited, and I struggled to find a sweet spot that worked well with my playing style. Additionally, the pedal seemed to have a significant impact on the overall volume, making it challenging to balance with the other pedals in my setup. Overall, it's an okay pedal, but there are definitely better options available in the market.
