Voodoo Amulet

The Heart of Damballa is a symbolic antique amulet named after the voodoo sky god Damballa and it is featured in the Child's Play movie series. It is used in ritual magic even while chanting the forbidden prayer to call forth the power of Damballa.

The Heart of Damballa is a rhomboidal square-shaped necklace with a ruby gem embedded in it. Also, in Bride of Chucky, the color of the talisman was platinum, while in Seed of Chucky, it was of the bronze color. Also, as shown in Seed of Chucky, there was a metallic slab on the back of the amulet with an inscription that reads "ADE DUE DAMBALLA" and "AWAKE".

This talisman has made its first appearance in Bride of Chucky and it reappeared the last time in Seed of Chucky, though it is well known that the chant which calls Damballa's name, is used by Chucky numerous times using his knowledge of voodooism and it is able to transfer spirits into different living vessels with or without the amulet which perfects and strengthens the soul-transferring magic. Tiffany, Chucky's lover and partner in crime, later used the Heart of Damballa to finally fulfill her own dream of becoming her favorite actress Jennifer Tilly after their child Glen used the amulet to revive his long lost parents from the dead in Seed of Chucky.

The curse of the we ndigoo

Those who encounter a Wendigo or fall victim to its curse are said to experience vivid nightmares, paranoia, and an overall sense of dread. The Wendigo's mere presence is believed to bring bad luck, illness, and death to those in the vicinity. Its curse can spread like a contagion, as anyone who consumes the flesh of a Wendigo victim is thought to become cursed themselves. To protect themselves against the curse of the Wendigo, indigenous tribes had strict laws and taboos against cannibalism. They also performed rituals and ceremonies to ward off this malevolent spirit. Additionally, elders and spiritual leaders were tasked with identifying and dealing with individuals showing signs of possession or being affected by the curse. The curse of the Wendigo serves as a cautionary tale, reminding people of the consequences of giving in to their darkest desires and the selfish act of taking another human life. It speaks to the innate fear humans have of losing control and becoming consumed by their own primal instincts. The legend continues to be shared and passed down through generations, serving as a reminder to heed our moral compass and avoid the curse of the Wendigo at all costs..

Reviews for "The Wendigo Mythos: Comparing Native American Legends"

1. John - 2 stars - I was highly disappointed with "The Curse of the Wendigo". The storyline was slow-paced and lacked excitement. The characters felt one-dimensional and their actions were predictable. Additionally, the special effects were not up to par, making the whole experience quite underwhelming. I had high expectations for this film but unfortunately, it failed to deliver.
2. Sarah - 1 star - "The Curse of the Wendigo" was a complete waste of time. I found the plot to be confusing and disconnected. The movie attempted to juggle multiple subplots, but none of them were properly developed or resolved. It felt like a random collection of scenes rather than a coherent story. Moreover, the acting was subpar, with most of the cast delivering flat performances. I would not recommend this film to anyone.
3. Mike - 2 stars - The Curse of the Wendigo had potential, but it fell flat. The pacing was all over the place, making it difficult to stay engaged throughout the movie. The plot twists were predictable, and the characters lacked depth. The overall atmosphere of the film felt forced and artificial. I had hoped for a thrilling horror experience, but unfortunately, this movie did not deliver.
4. Emily - 1 star - I couldn't stand "The Curse of the Wendigo". The dialogue was cheesy, and the scares were ineffective. It seemed like the filmmakers relied on jump scares rather than building genuine tension and suspense. The plot was unoriginal and filled with cliches. Overall, the movie failed to create a compelling or memorable horror experience. I would advise skipping this one.
