Dr. Fernando Pagan, MD

Fernando L. Pagan, MD, is a Professor and Vice Chairman for the Department of Neurology at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital. Dr. Pagan received his medical degree from Georgetown University and completed an internal medicine internship and a neurology residency at MedStar Georgetown. Dr. Pagan also completed a fellowship in movement disorders and magnetic resonance spectroscopy at the National Institute of Neurological Diseases and Stroke within the National Institutes of Health. He is a board-certified neurologist. Dr. Pagan is director of the Movement Disorders Program and the medical director of MedStar Georgetown's National Parkinson Foundation Center of Excellence, as well as the fellowship director for the clinical research fellowship in movement disorders at MedStar Georgetown. Dr. Pagan also serves as the Medical Director of the Translational Neurocience Program (TNP). Dr. Pagan's special interests include Parkinson's disease, parkinsonism, and other related disorders; … ataxia; essential tremor; dystonia; and tics, and he is an expert in botulinum toxin treatment for dystonia, tremor, spasticity, and tics. He is a member of the functional neurosurgery team for movement disorders, performing preoperative evaluations and programming for deep brain stimulators in Parkinson's disease, essential tremor and dystonia. The TNP focuses on repourposing drugs for the treatment of Neurodenegenerative Disorders like Parkinson's Disease (PD), Lewy Body Disease, Alzheimer's Disease (AD), Huntington's Disease, ALS, CTE, PSP, MSA and others. Currently Dr. Pagan is the PI (Primary Investigator) in mutiple clinical trials. The TNP is currently involved with clinical research trials with Nilotinib in PD and AD.

Virmarie Quinones-Pagan, MD

Virmarie Quiñones-Pagán, MD is a board-certified physician in both sports medicine and pediatric rehabilitation medicine. She joined Memorial Physician Group and Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital in 2016.

Previously, Dr. Quiñones-Pagán served as a physician at Cleveland Clinic Children’s Hospital for Rehabilitation. Prior to that, she was in private practice in adult physical medicine and rehabilitation in Puerto Rico.

Dr. Quiñones-Pagán earned her medical degree, magna cum laude, from the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine in 2002. She completed her internship in internal medicine in 2003 at San Juan Veterans Affairs Medical Center, where she also did her residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation in 2006. Dr. Quiñones-Pagán also completed a fellowship in pediatric rehabilitation medicine in 2010 at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.

I was so disappointed with "The Mermaid, the Witch, and the Sea". The story had so much potential, but it fell flat for me. The pacing was incredibly slow, and I found myself getting bored and losing interest in the characters. The world-building was also lacking; I wanted to know more about the magical elements in the story, but they felt underdeveloped. Overall, it was a disappointing read for me.
