It is a time to plant seeds, both in the earth and in our own lives. Beltane, celebrated on May 1st, is a holiday of love, passion, and fertility. It marks the beginning of summer and is a time for joyous celebrations and rituals. The summer solstice, known as Litha, falls around June 20th. It is the longest day of the year and a time to honor the solar energy at its peak. Litha is a time of abundance, manifestation, and the celebration of life. Lughnasadh, also known as Lammas, is celebrated on August 1st. It is the first harvest, when the fruits of the earth are gathered. Lughnasadh is a time to give thanks for the abundance in our lives and to reflect on the sacrifices made for our sustenance. Mabon, occurring around September 20th, is the autumn equinox. It is a time of balance once again, when day and night are equal. Mabon is a time of gratitude, reflection, and the harvest of our personal goals. The final Sabbat is Samhain, celebrated on October 31st. Samhain marks the end of the light half and the beginning of the dark half of the year. It is a time to honor and connect with our ancestors, and to acknowledge the thinning veil between the physical and spiritual realms.
