Once upon a time in a mystical land, there lived a deceptive witch named Morgana. Morgana was known for her cunning and conniving ways, always scheming and plotting to get what she wanted. She used her powers of manipulation to trick and deceive others into doing her bidding. One day, Morgana set her sights on a valuable treasure hidden deep within the castle. She knew that the castle was heavily guarded, but she was confident in her abilities to outwit the guards. She concocted a plan to disguise herself as a helpless maiden in distress, hoping to gain sympathy and compassion from the guards.

Chests at the end of a stage give a Goblet, Copper ? and some Ammo. Chests in vault rooms give a random Occult Scroll. If Arms Support is enabled, the initial chest gives three weapons where the player can only choose one of them.

Red chests offer the player a set of choices, most of which reward the player with things such as scrolls and weapon upgrades with a drawback such as a Health. Chests are randomly spawned throughout the acts excluding the guaranteed blue chest at the end of each stage and give the player access to Occult Scrolls, ascension upgrades, and weapon upgrades.

What do I do with the "mysterious key"?

This is a part of the secret treasure quest which can be redeemed in Act 4. This quest gives you the currently second most rare achievement in the game, "Last Piece" for finding Luffy's Hat.

In order to complete it, you must visit certain nodes in a certain order.

  1. In the first world, visit "The Lake" node when it's a purple book. You may need to restart a few times for it to be purple, but it seems to be fairly common. When you get there, choose "search for anything interesting". You'll find a treasure map.
Follow the quest nodes throughout the first world. You'll get some mediocre treasure, and a second treasure map.
  2. (Steps 2 and 3 can be done in any order) In the green world, move to the quest node by buying one of the two boats. Choose the west pillar, which was shown on the treasure map. This will give you one of the mysterious keys.
  3. In the red world, visit and enter the volcano. After a somewhat difficult fight, you'll get a second mysterious key.
(Alternatively, in the blue world, visit the sewers. I don't have an image for this yet)
  4. In Act 4, follow the quest markers for both keys. This will lead to an extremely difficult fight including two priests. If you are going a debuff build (poison/bleed/fire etc) I recommend doing the priests lasts. Even though they are the healers, they have the ability to give all their debuffs to one of your players, which makes them extremely dangerous to debuff.

Your reward is a treasure chest with some of the most powerful items in the game, including Luffy's Hat, which gives (among other things) every hero two extra cards every turn; and the Magic Mirror which gives one character a 0-cost copy of the first card they play every turn.

One of the guards, let's call him Marcus, happened to be nearby and rushed to her aid. Marcus was a kind-hearted man, always wanting to help those in need. Marcus approached Morgana cautiously, asking if she was alright. Morgana feigned distress, explaining that she had been traveling for days and had lost her way. She told Marcus that she was searching for her lost sister and was desperate for assistance. Marcus, being the compassionate soul that he was, offered to help Morgana find her sister. He called upon his fellow guards to aid in the search, completely unaware of the true intentions behind Morgana's act. Morgana, now having gained the trust of the guards, led them on a wild goose chase, deliberately leading them away from the treasure. Days turned into weeks, and the guards grew more and more frustrated with their fruitless search. Unbeknownst to them, Morgana was slowly making her way back to the castle, her plan coming to fruition. She knew that with the guards distracted, the path to the treasure would be unguarded. Finally, the day came when Morgana returned to the castle. She slipped past the unsuspecting guards effortlessly, her true form hidden under a cloak of deception. As she made her way to the hidden chamber where the treasure was said to be, a sense of triumph filled her. She couldn't believe that her plan had worked so perfectly. Morgana reveled in her victory as she reached the chamber, only to be met with disappointment. The treasure was nowhere to be found. It seemed that someone had beaten her to it. She felt a mixture of anger and frustration, realizing that her cunning plan had been foiled by another. Little did Morgana know, it was Marcus who had discovered the treasure before her. He had stumbled upon it during one of their search parties while Morgana had led them astray. Marcus, being an honest and trustworthy guard, had followed protocol and reported the finding to his superiors. Morgana's plan may have failed, but she learned a valuable lesson in the process. Deception and trickery may provide temporary gains, but honesty and integrity will always prevail in the end. As for Marcus, he continued to serve as a guard, remaining blissfully unaware of the deceptive witch who had crossed his path. In this story, we see the contrast between Morgana's deceptive nature and Marcus' honest character. While Morgana used her powers to manipulate and deceive, Marcus remained true to his values. The main idea highlighted here is that dishonesty may help in achieving short-term goals, but it will ultimately lead to failure and disappointment..
