What comes with The Witch Queen DLC in Destiny 2? We know that the Glaive energy weapon is on the way and that it will be the debut for a first-person melee weapon in the game for one. And as for the setting for the DLC, players will be heading to Savathûn’s Throne World for the adventure.
Formerly known as Sathona, Savathûn is a Hive Wizard and she has two sisters called Xivu Arath and Oryx, the Taken King - both of which long-time Destiny players will be more than familiar with. The Witch Queen is known as Savathûn and you would likely have heard her name mentioned many times over the years with players eagerly awaiting a face-off with her for a heck of a long time now - she was first mentioned back in 2015 in The Taken King DLC.

The time to face-down Savathun is nearly here, as Destiny 2: The Witch Queen will be very soon. A recent This Week At Bungie (TWAB) update details how Destiny 2’s newest expansion will begin rolling out. Let’s take a look at how it’s all going down.
Destiny 2: The Witch Queen release schedule
- Feb. 21 at 6:45 P.M. PDT // 9:45 P.M. EDT: Destiny 2 is brought offline.
- Feb. 21, 7:00 P.M. PDT // 10:00 P.M. EDT: Pre-load for Update 4.0.0.1 will be available across all platforms.
- Feb. 22, 9:00 A.M. PDT // 12:00 P.M. EDT: Destiny 2 will be brought back online. Update 4.0.0.1 becomes playable across all platforms and regions.
- Feb. 22, 10:00 A.M. PDT // 1:00 P.M. EDT: Destiny 2 maintenance is scheduled to complete.
Folks playing on PS4 have another step ahead of them before playing Destiny 2: The Witch Queen , though. The TWAB post claims PS4 owners must download “all associated Destiny 2 Required Content” before diving into The Witch Queen expansion. Bungie notes that all of these will be available for download after the 4.0.0.1 patch comes out.
Bungie states that if all goes according to plan, The Witch Queen will release simultaneously across all platforms on Tuesday, Feb. 22 at 9:00 A.M. PDT // 12:00 P.M. EDT // 5:00 P.M. GMT. We’ll add several more time zones in the section below.
