I guess my biggest issue with the film which was also my dad s was that, with the focus on the magical side of that world, things get so crazy that the climax ends up feeling very un-Asterix. A last few elements in the story, still mostly spoiler-free -The elder druids aren t exactly incapables, but their council is definitely not as great as you d expect it to be.

Is there a magic potion for leadership?
For me, there is no magic wand that can transform a manager into a leader. However, (and this fits really well with my love for food), I believe there is a recipe that can definitely set one on the right path…
First and foremost, take a large serving of selflessness. The main purpose of a leader is not to boost and promote himself with statements like “I did this….or this is my baby”. Leaders are naturally people who seek reward through deferred gratification. Nothing is more pleasing that seeing his/her team grow and succeed.
Add a large sprinkle of ability to coach and see the intrinsic potential and qualities of your team. Leading in my opinion is no longer telling. It is helping the managers arrive at the answer by providing them with the tools they need on the way. A while back, I read the following saying “give a man a fish, he will eat for one day. Teach him to fish and he will eat forever”. This really illustrates well what I feel is one of the elements that make a man or woman a leader.
Remove any unneeded ego. People follow leaders, ideas, directions but not harsh, meaningless orders. In a very strange way, the more one gives, the better leader he/she becomes. Selflessness will create a sense of belonging and will encourage people to follow. Who wants to follow a dictator?
Add Emotional Intelligence liberally to the mix: Put in simple terms, this means “bucket the feelings/emotions in their right box” If you had a terrible morning at home (the dog wanted you to take him for a walk and it was raining), your breakfast burnt, you couldn’t find your keys and to finish it all, the traffic was terrible. Before you take it onto the poor soul who is the unlucky one to come and talk to you, remember this “ it is not their fault”, they didn’t hide your keys or made the traffic worse. As leader, people look up to you and if you project anger and animosity to people for something they didn’t do, then it becomes the norm…
And finally, if you have the privilege to lead a team, remember you are human too and some of the above might not be perfect every day. Just recognise it, that goes a long way…
