Some of the creatures encountered in this class are genuinely dangerous, so students are also taught safety precautions and various magical spells and charms to protect themselves. Hagrid, the loveable half-giant, is the professor of this subject.
8th: Blast-Ended Skrewts
The honour of most dangerous Care of Magical Creatures lesson has to go to the Blast-Ended Skrewts. These horrible creature with the blasting ends, stingers and suckers were really rather… gross. Over the course of several lessons, Harry and his class suffered cuts, bruises, burns and they still couldn’t figure out one end of a Skrewt from the other. Any lesson where you have to escape from a group of large, rampaging, lobster-looking creatures and take shelter in Hagrid’s hut is always going to be considered rather hazardous in our eyes. There’s also the fact that Hagrid seemed to have been involved in some rather dodgy dealings when it came to acquiring these beasts. We’re not sure that their creation was strictly legal, or Ministry approved… Danger rating: 9/10

Hagrid often brings in creatures from his personal collection, giving students hands-on experience and the opportunity to interact with these fascinating creatures. 1. Jessica - 2/5 stars - I was really excited to take Care of Magical Creatures as an elective class, but I was sorely disappointed. The professor seemed more interested in showing off his own knowledge rather than teaching us anything useful. Plus, the course material was extremely repetitive, and it felt like we were just going through the motions every class. I expected a hands-on experience with magical creatures, but all we did was read from textbooks and listen to long lectures. Overall, it was a letdown and I wouldn't recommend it.
2. Mark - 1/5 stars - Care of Magical Creatures was a complete waste of time. The professor was disorganized and never seemed prepared for class. It was painfully obvious that he had a lack of experience with the creatures he was teaching about. We spent very little time actually interacting with the creatures, and most of the class was spent copying information from the board. I feel like I could have learned more by just reading a book on my own. Save yourself the trouble and choose another elective.
3. Sarah - 2/5 stars - I had high hopes for Care of Magical Creatures, but unfortunately, it fell flat for me. The professor seemed more interested in impressing us with his tales of past experiences with magical creatures, rather than focusing on teaching us practical skills. Additionally, the course material was quite outdated, and it was evident that the professor hadn't kept up with the current research and advancements in the field. I was expecting a hands-on approach, but most of the time we were just observing the creatures from a distance. It was a disappointing experience overall.
