[Discussion] What's up with Rogue's shadow?

During Rogue vs Gajeel on the final day of the GMG, Rogue gets possessed by his shadow. The shadow calls itself a "shadow that rules over fate" and tries to kill Gajeel (unclear why, he says it's his destiny). Once Rogue/The Shadow gets his ass handed to him he says "I figured I had pushed the Rogue of this time to its limit". With his talk about "fate", "destiny" and "the Rogue of this time" the implication here seems to be that this is Future Rogue possibly testing present Rogue's strength?
(sidenote: if it was indeed Future Rogue, would that mean Rogue could possess people by going into their shadow? not important anyway but that'd be neat.)

However, as the fight against the seven dragons happens, it becomes clear that this cannot be Future Rogue because Future Rogue himself was also possessed by the shadow. He calls it "the darkness within me", says it hounded him relentlessly until Frosch died and they became one. The shadow also speaks to Rogue during the fight and says it's the darkness inside his heart.
During the Avatar arc, after Natsu supposedly prevents the future in which Gray kills Frosch from happening, three quick panels seem to imply that the shadow disappears all together so it was still here one year later.
So, it can't in any way be Future Rogue.

So. what is it? It's a shadow that's related to fate, that represents the "darkness inside Rogue's heart" (what darkness?) and that only disappears after one bad event is prevented. All of this. leaves me with so many questions. Why is his shadow sentient? Why does it seem to know that Rogue is or was once bound to turn evil? If Frosch died now, or if another person close to Rogue, like Sting, died, would he be fine?? Is his shadow sentient as a side effect of being a Shadow Dragon Slayer?

The only way I could make sense of that in my head is that Rogue's shadow became sentient after Future Rogue went back in time because it's somehow aware of Rogue's fate now. It's not likely it'll ever be explained because clearly it was very quickly done away with and anyway considering how little Rogue has done so far in 100YQ even now that Sabertooth is here I doubt that's where we'll get any explanation.

Like with Death Flies from which they evolve, Shadow Fairies cripple their target's strength via Decay. They can whittle down a target to harmlessness easier due to better stats from evolution.

This allows listeners to fully engage with the plot and characters, creating a more vivid and captivating experience. Moreover, the use of different voices for each character adds depth and personality to the story. Skilled voice actors can portray a wide range of characters, from brave and noble heroes to cunning and devious villains. The dialogue between characters becomes more dynamic and engaging, making the story feel more alive. Another compelling aspect of fantasy audiobooks is the addition of ambient sounds and music. These elements help create a more immersive atmosphere, making listeners feel like they are truly a part of the magical world. From the rustle of leaves in a mystical forest to the battle cries on a battlefield, these audio enhancements add another layer of depth to the storytelling. Overall, listening to fantasy audiobooks offers a more mysterious and magical experience compared to reading the same stories in print. The combination of sound effects, music, and talented voice actors creates a more immersive and captivating experience. Whether you're a lifelong fan of the genre or new to the world of fantasy, these audiobooks are a fantastic way to delve into a more mysterious shade of magic..

Reviews for "Unleashing the Power of an Audible Shade of Magic"

1. Karen - 2/5 Stars - I was really excited to start listening to "A more mysterious shade of magic" as I had heard great things about it. However, I was left disappointed. The story was slow moving and lacked depth. The characters were one-dimensional and I couldn't form a connection with any of them. The writing style was also mediocre, with long descriptions that didn't add anything to the plot. Overall, it was a tedious experience and I wouldn't recommend it.
2. John - 1/5 Stars - I found "A more mysterious shade of magic" to be incredibly boring and unengaging. The plot was convoluted and confusing, making it hard to follow along. The world-building was also lacking, as I couldn't picture the different London's the story takes place in. The narration didn't help either, as the voice actor lacked emotion and made it even harder to stay interested. I had high hopes for this book, but it fell flat for me.
3. Emma - 2/5 Stars - I struggled to finish "A more mysterious shade of magic". The pacing was off, with long periods of nothing happening followed by rushed and unsatisfying reveals. The magic system was poorly explained, and I was left with many unanswered questions. The characters were also unlikable and their motivations felt forced. I had high expectations for this book, but unfortunately, it didn't live up to them. I wouldn't recommend it to others.
