Resistance is a concept that has been heavily debated and discussed throughout history. It can take many forms and arise in various contexts, but one particularly intriguing perspective is to view resistance as a form of witchcraft. Witchcraft, traditionally associated with supernatural powers and mystical rituals, encompasses a range of practices that are typically deemed outside the boundaries of societal norms. Similarly, resistance operates beyond the constraints of established power structures. It challenges existing systems of authority, ideology, and oppression. By equating resistance with witchcraft, we shed light on the clandestine and subversive nature of resistance.

Wonde magic

We have signed up with Wonde to support our children access the various online resources we use in school. It is really easy to use and it helps by automatically logging the children in to the various sites.

At this stage all our children are making use of the Magic Badge or Emoji Password feature. These are really easy, simply visit www.edu.wonde.com (or click the icon above) and select either the Magic Badge or Emoji Password option. For the Magic Badge option you'll need a device with a camera to make it work (an iPad/Phone/Laptop etc). Once you give the website permission to access the camera then it should log in automatically. (One glitch we have found is that it doesnt work properly on iPads/iPhones when using Chrome - Safari works just fine)

How to log in to Wonde and Google Classroom from home

The Gsuite apps work best if you use the Google Chrome browser.

You can use your ‘magic badge’ to sign in at home

If your device doesn’t have a camera – don’t panic! You can use your emoji password instead.

Required Settings

Select the Organisational Unit you are using for your Wonde SSO enabled Chromebook on the left-hand side.

Under Single Sign-On IdP Redirection, set Redirect users to SAML SSO IdP to Allow users to go directly to SAML SSO IdP page

Under Single Sign-On, set SAML-based Single Sign-On for Chrome Devices to Enable SAML-based Single Sign-On for Chrome Devices

Additional Settings

We recommend configuring the settings below for the best possible user experience when logging into a Chromebook via Wonde.

Select the user OU (not the device OU) containing the Wonde users who will be logging in with Chromebooks

Under Idle Settings, set Action on idle to Logout, Action on lid close to Logout, Lock screen on sleep to Lock screen

Setting up Wonde as an identity provider for select organisational units

If you choose to carry out the steps below you can remove any network masks you have entered to restrict use of Wonde as an IdP to chrome devices only. If you do this, users in the organisational units you choose to be affected by Wonde as your Google identity provider will be required to login to Google Workspace with Wonde credentials on any device.

In the Google Admin Console navigate to Security >> Setup single sign-on (SSO) with a third party IdP and scroll to the bottom of the page and under Manage SSO profile assignments for organisational units or groups click 'Get started'

2. Select an OU on the left-hand side of the page as marked in red below and select Organisation's third-party SSO profile on the right-hand side of the page or if you want the users in the OU you have selected to use Google credentials to access Google Workspace, select None.

(If you select Organisation's third-party SSO profile and you want to use Wonde as the IdP for Google Workspace, then you need to make sure you have followed the steps earlier on in this guide to select SAML SSO login as the form of authentication for the selected OU).

Witchcraft, with its association to supernatural powers and unseen forces, offers a mystical lens through which to view resistance. It invites us to explore the hidden realms of power and agency, challenging us to consider alternative modes of resistance and liberation. In conclusion, resistance can be understood as a form of witchcraft, characterized by its clandestine and transformative nature. By viewing resistance through this lens, we gain a deeper understanding of its potency and its ability to subvert oppressive systems. Just as witchcraft challenges established norms and offers individuals a means of agency, resistance empowers marginalized voices and drives societal change..
