The Art of Hat Magic: Spells and Rituals with a Large Rimmed Witch Hat

By admin

A large rimmed witch hat is a classic symbol of Halloween and witchcraft. It is a wide-brimmed hat that is typically black in color and adorned with various decorative elements such as ribbons, feathers, or skulls. The hat is often pointed at the top, giving it a mystical and eerie appearance. The large rim of the hat serves both a functional and aesthetic purpose. Functionally, the wide brim helps to shield the wearer's face from the sun or rain. In a witch's case, it is said to provide protection from the elements while flying on a broomstick.

When you imagine tapestry weaving, you may picture enormous pieces covering castle walls, but with the right loom, you can make a gallery-ready piece that will fit in one hand. The Weave-Along will take place in June and is the perfect event to participate in with your mother or daughter or son or mother-figure or grandmother or best friend or husband whether that special person lives in the same home or across the world.

Special Mother’s Day Tapestry/Bead Cuff Bracelet Weave-Along

This year in celebration of Mother’s Day, we’re launching a very special weave-along featuring our best-selling project that is a favorite of weavers of all types and levels, The Tapestry/Bead Cuff Bracelet.

The Weave-Along will take place in June and is the perfect event to participate in with your mother or daughter or son or mother-figure or grandmother or best friend or husband whether that special person lives in the same home or across the world. (This is a great solo project too, especially if you’re looking for some “me time.”) Both the kit and final bracelet make wonderful gifts!

The Tapestry/Bead Cuff Bracelet is a fiber tapestry bracelet woven on a Mirrix Loom with a shedding device. Rows of beads are strung onto the weft and woven in the same manner as the yarn. It’s a fun project for many reasons:

1.) It’s easy for any level weaver to make

2.) It’s a quick project to weave

3.) It’s gorgeous and eye-catching no matter what design choices you make

4.) The kit is stunning and includes fun materials like railroad yarn to experiment with texture and different colored hand-dyed silks to play with color

5.) The beads added in this way are magical! They keep your selvedges straight, eliminating an issue that is often difficult for beginning tapestry weavers.

6.) It can be made very simply or you can use it as a way to practice more complex tapestry techniques

The weave-along will take place over three weeks beginning on June 1st.

Through May 20th, the kit and loom package are 20% off. Grab one for yourself and place another order for someone you love. The kit makes two bracelets, so if you live near someone you want to participate in the weave-along with, you only need one kit. Click here to watch a video showing what comes in each kit.

What is a weave-along?
A weave-along is an online course focusing on a specific project. Every Sunday for the length of the weave-along participants will get an email with links to instructions for the week ahead that might include downloadable .PDFs, online written content and/or videos. This is not a live event, but does take place over a specific time frame so participants are all working on the same part of the project at generally the same time. Weave-along participants are encouraged to ask questions and engage with other members of the weave-along via email and social media sites including the Mirrix Facebook Page, Mirrix Facebook Group and Mirrix Ravelry Page.

What skills will you learn in this weave-along?
-How to warp a Mirrix loom
-How to weave with a shedding device combining beads and fiber
-How to finish a cuff bracelet

What do you need to begin:
-An 8", 12", 16" or 22" Mirrix Loom with a shedding device
-A 10 dent warp coil (this coil likely did not come with your loom and will need to be purchased separately.)
-Heddles (these can be purchased or made)
-A beading needle
-A tapestry needle
-A Mother’s Day Tapestry/Bead Cuff Bracelet Kit Weave-Along Kit

*Note: You can weave this on another loom or on a Mirrix without a shedding device and/or without a kit, but we will not be able to assist participants in sourcing materials or altering the project for different looms. You can learn more about alternative supplies for this project here.

When does the weave-along take place?
June 1st - June 22nd

Week of June 1st: Warping
Week of June 8th: Weaving
Week of June 15th: Finishing

What if you (or the person you are gifting this kit or loom package to) cannot take part in June?
We will keep all of our weave-along resources live indefinitely so if you are busy during the weave-along you can always catch up later. We will also make the project available for free download after the weave-along takes place.

Reviews for "Unveiling the Secrets: Why Witches Wear Large Rimmed Hats"

1. Samantha - 2 stars: I was really disappointed with the large rimmed witch hat. When I received it, it looked nothing like the picture online. The hat was misshapen and looked cheaply made. The material was flimsy and didn't hold its structure at all. Overall, the quality was really poor and not worth the price I paid for it.
2. Michael - 1 star: This witch hat was a total letdown. It arrived late and when I finally got it, the size was way off. It was supposed to be a "large" rimmed hat, but it was actually quite small. The material felt cheap and the rim didn't hold its shape. I was embarrassed to wear it and ended up throwing it away. Definitely not worth the money.
3. Laura - 2 stars: I bought this large rimmed witch hat for a Halloween party, but it was a total letdown. The hat arrived with a strong chemical smell that didn't go away even after airing it out for days. The rim of the hat was flimsy and didn't stay up as advertised. It looked more like a floppy cap rather than a witch hat. I wouldn't recommend this product.
4. Chris - 2 stars: The large rimmed witch hat I received was not what I expected at all. The hat's shape was completely different from the picture, and it looked much cheaper in person. The materials used were not durable, and the hat didn't hold up well. It kept losing its form, which was disappointing. I wouldn't purchase this hat again.
