Copper Halo Eye – Face of the Day

Hey doll hey! How’s your day/night going? Mine? Going great. Have heaps of energy today and it’s a low pain day … pain level is around 5.

I finally got to play with some of my new makeup purchases, today is January 26 2021 … I do my Face of the Day posts 1 day behind, and even had enough energy after my shower to wash and deep condition my hair. I still need to dye my greys but it’s conditioned and clean finally so that’s a win in my books.

For today’s look I used the ColourPop Give It to Me Straight palette.

Today’s scent is Elizabeth Arden’s Red Door Revealed… originally released in 2003 and runs for $25 at Walmart (way cheaper than I originally paid for it)

The scent notes for this perfume are:

  • At the top: Pink Peony, Green Coral Orchid and Pear
  • In the middle: Bulgarian Rose, Lily, Plum, Tahitian Gardenia, Yellow Champaca and Orange Blossom.
  • The scent is round out with: Musk, Guaiac Wood, Mackay Orchid, Oakmoss and Black Amber.

This is a very playful scent that pairs nicely with casual wear but has just enough sophistication that a cute little summer dress works well with it too.

I primed my lids using P. Louise Base in the shade Rumour (£10/ $13.68 USD). For this eye look I used the ColourPop Give It to Me Straight palette ($18 but on sale for 13.50 on their website). I did my brows using the Milani Stay Put Brow Color ($8.49 at Ulta) in the shade #05 Dark Brown. I set the brow line using the ColourPop single shadow in the shade Hear Me Out (white peach – matte). I chose the shade B.S. (orangey brown – matte) as my transition. I deepened the inner and outer 1/3 of my full eye using the shade Frank (warm brown – matte). I deepened the inner most parts of the inner and outer 1/3 of the mobile lid using the shade Actually… (deepened chocolate brown – matte). I then laid down a thin layer of NYX Glitter Glue ($6.50 at Ulta) over the middle 1/3 of the mobile lid and let that set down for 1/2 a minute. For the middle 1/3 of my full eye I first went in with the shade Candid (bright copper – metallic) and then layered over the top of that with the shade Straight Up (warm gold – metallic). For the lower lash line I created a blown out drop shadow using the shade TMI (dusty burgundy- matte). For the inner corner highlight I chose the shade Up Front (pale gold with a silvery sheen – metallic). I lined my lower waterlines with NYX Slide On Eye Liner in the shade Golden Bronze ($8 for .04 ounces at Ulta) and applied 1 coat of Believe Beauty High-Definition Skinny Mascara ($4.50 at Dollar General). I then went back over the middle 1/3 of my mobile lid with a bit of E.L.F. Liquid Metallic Eyeshadow ($5 on their website) in the shade Moon (golden champagne). I then popped on a pair of KoKo Lashes in the style Diva ($7.99 on the Lady Moss website).

I primed my face using Good Molecules Silicone Free Priming Moisturizer ($14 on the Beautylish and Good molecules websites). I then used a bit of Makeup Revolution Fix & Glow Primer ($12 at Ulta) and then I contoured my face using Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Stick ($25 at Sephora) in the shade Mink (toasted almond). For foundation I used the Makeup Revolution Fast Base Stick Foundation ($9 at Ulta) in the shade F4 (light skin with nuetral undertones). I highlighted the high points of my face using Physicians Formula Dewy Highlighter ($11.99 for Ulta). I bronzed my face using Physicians Formula Sculpting Bronzer ($11.99 at Ulta) in the shade Mocha. I color correcting using the BECCA Under Eye Brightening Corrector ($32 at Sephora) in the shade Light to Medium (pearlized peachy-pink). My concealer today is the Fenty Beauty Pro Filter Instant Retouch Concealer ($26 at Sephora) in the shade #110. I added a touch of liquid blush using NYX Sweet Cheeks Soft Cheek Tint ($9 at Ulta) in the shade Caralicious (coral). I set my undereyes using BECCA Undereye Brightening Powder ($25 at Ulta and Sephora) and set the rest of the face using ColourPop No Filter Setting Powder ($10 on their website) in Translucent.

Cheeks and Lips:

I didn’t really need to touch up that much of my bronzer, blush and highlight… I added just the slightest little tap of each. For bronzer touch up I used NYX Matte Bronzer ($10 at Ulta) in the shade Deep Tan, I touched up the blush using Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-HOUR Blush ($29 at Ulta) in the shade Captivating (bright peach) and for my highlight I used Essence Pure Nude Highlighter ($4.99 at Ulta) in the shade #10 Be My Highlight. I lined my lips using Flower Beauty Petal Pout Lipliner ($6.99 at Ulta) in the shade Toffee (caramel brown) and then filled in my lips with ColourPop Lux Velvet ($8 on their website) in the shade Puddin’ (burnt orange red). I topped that with a slight amount of Makeup Revolution Pout Bomb ($7 at Ulta) in Glaze (clear). I set my face today using Pixi Skintreats Makeup Fixing Mist ($15 at Ulta) in the scent Rose Water and Green Tea. For touch ups today I am using Catrice Prime & Fine Waterproof Mattifying Powder ($8 at Ulta).

Final Thoughts: I really love how this look tied together and copper as a halo eye is just so stunning.

Before I review the new products that I tried today I wanted to review the Diva Koko lashes … they are so pretty but super uncomfortable. The bands are thick and ridged… even after applying glue and bending the bands they were a bit hard to apply because one side or the other would pop up. I finally had to apply glue and bend the band and hold it in front of my face fan until it dried and then go in with more glue to apply the lashes. This is definitely not be a style I purchase again.

Now on to the product reviews….

NYX Glitter Primer $6.50 at Ulta for .33 ounces of product

I give this primer a solid grade of A+++.

This product is billed as the holy grail product that will literally change your eye makeup routine. Minimize glitter fallout and keep each and every sparkle in its place with NYX Professional Makeup’s Glitter Primer. No more glitter mess! Specifically formulated to lock glitter and foil into place.

The first time I tried this primer it was a bit dry and sticky but did nothing to help my metallics and pigments… I believe this was do to the fact that the tube I received had a busted nozzle and so the product was more than likely dried up. I tried it today and darn if it’s not the best pigment primmer I have ever tried. I used less than a pea sized amount and that was enough for both eyes. I tapped my metallic over the primer and it was vibrant and there was no fallout. I really love this stuff.

Give It To Me Straight 12 Pan Palette $18 but currently sold out on their website

I give this palette a solid grade of A+++.

Give it to Me Straight is billed as everyone loves a good neutral palette. Give It To Me Straight is better than basic. With 12 shadows ranging from cool toned mauves to must-have neutrals, create any look for any occasion effortlessly with one little palette.

I absolutely love this palette. There beautiful jewel toned metallics the rusty browns… I love that there are no pressed glitters in this palette too. All the shades I used blended out easily and buffed into each other seamlessly without getting patchy. There was a bit of kickback in the pans but no fallout on the face. The shades a moderately pigmented and easy to layer up.

I give this cream shadow (Moon) a solid grade of A+++.

This cream shadow is billed as a liquid eyeshadow with high-impact, metallic finish with a high-impact, multi-dimensional metallic in a quick-drying gel base.

I just knew from the swatch that I was going to LOVE this formula that is a spot on dupe for the Stila Magnificent Metals. It layers over powders very well and does not crack or splinter over time. They do dry a bit fast so you want to work quickly and in 1 layer if you can. I was so impressed that I placed an placed an order today for the remaining 6 shades.

NYX Slide On Eye Liner in the shade Golden Bronze $8 for .04 ounces of product at Ulta

I give this eyeliner a solid grade of A+++.

This liner is billed as a silky soft yet delivers a powerful robust color to line eyes. NYX Professional Makeup’s formula is waterproof, doesn’t smear or smudge, and provides extreme color.

The swatches of the other pencils I haul early this past week impressed me very much so I purchased this one yesterday. Well… it’s even better on the waterlines!! I have not had to retouch this eyeliner at all and it has remained vibrant all day (it’s been 6 hours and it still looks like I just applied it). I think I may pick up the black and brown ones too ( I have a total of 6 in this formula).

I give this primer a solid grade of A+++:

This primer is billed as being able to prep your skin for long-lasting makeup, whilst turning up the glow all over the complexion.

This is really a pretty primer but it’s super subtle… it’s perfect for low maintance and no makeup days. It did give a bit of glow to my foundation today but not much. The smell is strong but dissipated after 10 minutes or so. It’s because of the smell that I couldn’t in good conscience grade this one higher.

I give this cream bronzer a solid grade of A+:

This cream bronzer is billed as an ultra-blendable and buildable Bronzer loaded with hydrating antioxidants to provide a healthy all-over-warmth to your skin that is a multi-use, cream-to-powder Bronzer infused with a nourishing blend of Organic Jojoba Oil, Natural Indian Senna Seed, Organic Aloe Vera, and Botanical Cactus Flower help get that sun-kissed glow without the harmful effects from the sun.

This bronzer was easier to work with than I expected, however it’s the smell for me… it has a sort of herbal hazelnut scent that I just find a turn off for me. It’s a pretty good shade for my skin tone and it really didn’t need to be touched up after I powdered my face. I used a duo fiber brush to buff it in and it did not lift the products under neither nor did it go streaky or patchy.

Physicians Formula Dewy Highlighter $11.99 for .3 ounces of product at Ulta.

I give this cream highlighter a solid A+++.

This cream highlighter is billed as an ultra-blendable and buildable formula loaded with hydrating antioxidants to provide a healthy glow to your skin. This multi-use, cream-to-powder Highlighter, infused with nourishing blend of Organic Jojoba Oil, Natural Indian Senna Seed, Organic Aloe Vera, and Botanical Cactus Flower help achieve a naturally brightened look instantly.

I really enjoyed this highlighter…. the scent is sort of the same as the bronzer except no where as pungent. It’s a pretty shade and shows through a powder set. It did not lift the products bellow and it’s best applied with a duo fiber brush… it didn’t buff in the best with fingers.

I give this stick foundation a solid grade of A+++.

This foundation is billed as Foundation just got faster! Available in multiple shades and a range of undertones, Makeup Revolution’s Fast Base Stick Foundation quickly perfects, contours and highlights your complexion. It comes in 9 shades … 3 for fair, 3 for light, and 2 for medium and also deep tones.

Oh baby do I love this foundation. It’s a satin formula that gives the best skin like finish to the face. This is definitely not the stick foundation for oily skin but for those of you with normal leaning combo it’s a pretty good foundation. I have got to say this is possible my favorite stick formula yet.

NYX Sweet Cheeks Soft Cheek Tint $9 for .22 ounces of product at Ulta

I give this cream to powder blush a solid grade of A+++.

This cream blush is billed as a buildable cream blush comes with a doe-foot applicator for easy & precise application with a weightless, blendable formula for a soft flush of color.

I LOVE this blush!! LOVE IT. It’s the perfect shade and has just the right amount of pigment and consistency that is just perfect. It’s the type of blush that is perfect for no makeup days, low maintance days, and even full beat face days. It’s such a perfect shade of coral too. It dries to a powder finish, doesn’t disrupt the products under neither and doesn’t set too fast giving you plenty of time to buff it in.

Lux Velvet $8 on their website

I give this liquid lipstick a solid grade of A++:

This lipstick is billed as a pillowy soft, velvet liquid lipstick that creates a soft, diffused look.

The shade is called Puddin’ (burnt orange red) and it such a pretty rusty lippie. It is a thin formula that is semi opaque but layers easily enough. This is not a transfer resistant product and the reason I only give it an A++ is because this one is a tad drying on the lips.

I give this lip gloss a solid grade of A+:

This lip gloss is billed as being able to plump up your pout with Makeup Revolution’s 6 shades of ultimate high shine-lip Pout Bomb Plumping Glosses. Infused with vitamin E for added nourishment, these glosses load your lips up with a rich glossy pigment plus you’ll feel a soft tingling effect for maximum volume and impact.

This gloss does not plump the lips whatsoever… and that is the reason I chose A+ as the grade for this product. I feel that if you claim it will plump… then it better plump. Other than that it’s a nice lip gloss… not too sticky, not thick, has a cooling tingle from the mint in it. It smells like mint but not in a toothpaste way.

Well… that’s all for now dolls. I hope you enjoy the rest of your day/night and that you are in great spirits and health.

I found it to be a waste of money and would not recommend it.
