I don t like perfect balance personally, I know that might sound like a cop-out as the developer but I actually enjoy things having their own quirks so you can decide what you should use, or maybe use a lower DPS weapon to train to use the higher level version of it.

- Magical Staff has lower damage than bow or crossbow, but they have FASTER attack rate, and HIGHER DPS . and most of all, they have UNLIMITED AMMO

- bow and crossbow is not bad, but they are TOO EXPENSIVE to use . you need to buy arrow, and the total damage and price rate is ridiculous . make it unlimited like Diablo or make the arrow very cheap or easier to make

- while melee . its not bad, until you find a monster that can 2 hit kill you . and there are many of them in the early stage. I tried to make a TANK build to no avail . I never know the right combination, and magic can kill you in one hit

with magical staff I have no worry in the world . just attack and run until the end

well it depends later on in game, as you can enchant your weapons. Bows/melee may become much more powerful a bit futher in

yeah if you get 2-shot killed then you need to leave the area or try a different tactic (tame an animal helper, use traps, use abilities) etc. or just come back later when you are stronger. the game is not linear so there will be some parts harder than others :) thank you

nope, the enemies is still on the early stage . like dark spider or moth . among enemies like bats or rats that I can kill with 2-3 hit, this creatures can suddenly 2 hit kill me .

it difficult to have magic resistance in the early game, while I have very high physical resistance . so magic creature like dark spider can kill me with only 2 hit . 2 dark orb exactly .

also wolf and giant moth also can kill me easily . while they are hidden between easy to kill enemies .

what I want to say is that this creature cannot be killed with melee . well you can as long you have lots of healing potion . just melee them while also drink healing potion every 2 hit .

while with range weapon you don't need to waste valuable resource like healing potion .

Did you put some attributes in Endurance? There will be some monsters that are strong and will 2hit you, wolves are very strong at the start. Try to find or buy better armour and make sure you stock up on consumables to help you on your quest!

Basically this. I am using magic wand + dagger to kite enemies and I still have to chug a health potion and run away to recover health every other enemy. The Fire Moths in the Bandit Cave do 10 times as much damage as the Bandits and can take 10 times as many hits. Its just a weird balance to me. I noticed the same in other areas, ridiculously strong monsters mixed in with regular monsters.

I leveled up a bit before moving on from the first town and was able to one hit most of the enemies by the time I got to the dungeon to the second town. The moths hit hard, and since I didn't see any way to have 2 weapon sets to make a bow viable for my fighter build I picked up the spell Homing Ice (needed a spell anyway for a quest) which works really well for the moths. I just kite them around and let loose. I also picked up the heal and health regen spells so I didn't have to burn through healing potions and could mitigate the damage there too.

Are there any plans to add a 2nd weapon set that you can switch to with a hot key? I'd love to be able to use a bow/crossbow but I feel I'd need to be able to switch between ranged and melee easily or I'd get overwhelmed trying to swap out if necessary or if I get cornered while kiting.

I also wanted to ask about dual wielding. Early on I had a sword in my main hand and an axe in my off hand. It looked like I was only gaining skill ups in long swords but not axes. My damage was somewhere in the middle of the 2 and it didn't seem like I was getting any advantage in speed either. I just wanted to check and see if this was working as intended and if there is any advantage to dual wielding.

I just saw v. 1.12 up and saw the keyboard bindings in the settings. Thank you! Is it me though or did "I" work to bring up Inventory before and it doesn't now?

what I actually want to say is .

AMMO USAGE in bow and crossbow disrupt the PACE of fighting in the game . unlike other weapons especially magic wand . changing ammo each time you running out of one TYPE make the fighting is not fun . and in the end you won't use any bow or crossbow at all . what a waste, while there are lots of interesting type of the arrow

using bow and crossbow become not fun, and go forth and back each time you fight . especially fighting dozens of enemies or a boss . will result poorly .

many diablo-like game fix this problem with unlimited ammo . you just need to change the arrow type and then what you need to think is about position and how to make sure you will still alive while fighting enemies . you don't need to thinking about how many ammo you have and changing arrow as fast as you can, or changing weapons if you running out of arrow in the heat of battle

some game fix this problem by making bow and crossbow fire slowly but super deadly . so each time player must carefully snipe enemies rather than rapid fire like machine gun .

hope this can be balanced .

I quite liked ammo management as archers in games :/ stocking up on 1000 arrows in town for your hunt was fun. Starting ammo is low damage etc but the better arrows and bows well.. maybe it might be worth the time investment!

There's also enchanting which I think some people might be overlooking- enchanting can make melee and Bows VERY powerful.
