In the iconic film "The Wizard of Oz," the wicked witch is a prominent character. Known for her sinister presence and malevolent actions, the musical selections associated with her character further emphasize her wickedness. Music plays a crucial role in adding depth and enhancing the portrayal of the wicked witch throughout the film. One of the most memorable and eerie musical themes associated with the wicked witch is the "Witch's Theme." This haunting melody is characterized by dissonant chords, foreboding instrumentation, and a slow, menacing tempo. The Witch's Theme is first introduced when the wicked witch is plotting her revenge on Dorothy and her companions.

I’ve shared this piece before. It’s a vintage beaded light fixture and I simply turned it upside-down and filled with my prettiest ornaments.

Making A Little Christmas Magic – Home Tour

Making a little Christmas magic can be inspired by so many things. Today I’m sharing a whimsical vintage style Christmas, inspired by something unusual. I hope that you’re roused to look around your own home and think outside the box!

I kind of feel like busting out in song…something about magic! Christmas magic and with the lights, glisten and glitter it’s the most dazzling holiday of all! Every year I set out to do something different for the holiday season. The creative aspect of seasonal decorating is one of the things that I love most about my home and my job. If you’re coming over from Designthusiasm, welcome in!

Out came the trees and the containers of Christmas from hibernating in my garage. I honestly did not have a clue or a plan on how I would decorate this year. Hmmm? When you’ve been designing for the seasons as long as I have it can be hard to stay fresh! This pillow got me thinking. Make a little magic is emblazoned in gold on blush. That would be my theme and although I’m not finished with the whole house yet, I’ll go with this throughout for continuity.

The first thought that popped into my head was to create a wreath wall. I have a nice collection of wreaths and grabbed six to work with. While it may not appeal to everyone, it does to me and the whimsical touch is something that I love. There were more than a few holes to patch as I moved these wreaths around! Two of these wreaths are vintage…can you guess which ones? I embellished four of the wreaths by adding a silk ribbon bow. If you’re interested in learning how to make your own unique silk ribbon, head over to THIS POST.

Once the wreaths were done it came time to adorn the tree! The Christmas tree that I have here is THIS ONE. I love it so much and am fortunate to have three of these…you’ll love it too and they do not shed!

" This piece is played when Dorothy encounters Miss Gulch, who later transforms into the wicked witch in the fantasy land of Oz. The music starts with an ominous low-pitched motif, building up the anticipation of danger. It then transitions into a faster-paced section, symbolizing the chase between Dorothy and the wicked witch. The composition effectively captures the intensity and frightening nature of the witch's pursuit. Furthermore, the wicked witch's musical selection also includes the song "The Merry Old Land of Oz." Although this song is not solely dedicated to her character, it is sung by the entire cast, including the witch, during the scene in Emerald City. In this song, the wicked witch adds her own dark harmonies and vocal expressions, contrasting with the joyful and positive mood of the other characters. This contrast reinforces the wicked witch's villainous nature and sets her apart from the rest of the characters. Overall, the musical selections associated with the wicked witch in "The Wizard of Oz" contribute significantly to her portrayal as a menacing and malevolent character. The Witch's Theme, Miss Gulch's/Pursuit, and her contribution to "The Merry Old Land of Oz" showcase her evil intentions, adding depth to her character and immersing the audience in the enchanting world of Oz..
