Two Sisters Tormented By A Curse of Slumber

In Exodus 20:5 God tells us that the sins of the fathers can travel three to four generations. Do you know what may have gained access to your family that far back? I know I don’t and I don’t believe that many of us understand what doors were opened generations back. During my first group deliverance seminar, I prayed for a beautiful African American woman who owned her own business, and was a picture of energy and accomplishment.

Yet, as I bound up the strongman of slumber, she let out a loud scream and fell sound asleep. I was puzzled by this because on our list that we give clients to identify the demonic oppression in their lives, she had nothing circled under Slumber. Using the authority in the name of Jesus we commanded her to wake up, she immediately sat up and we were able to cast out that sleepy spirit.

Two years later, her sister came in for deliverance ministry in our Clearwater office. My ministry partner (I often like to have help and support when I pray deliverance prayer), who had also been at the seminar two years before, noticed who she was and said, “Today we find out if that was a generational spirit!”

Sure enough, as we began to bind the strongman of slumber and call out the spirits of sleepiness, laziness and lethargy, this other sister slumped over on the couch and fell sound asleep. As the Holy Spirit has shown over and over again, we often do not fully understand what has gained a legal right to torment us through the sins of our fathers. In the African American population that we have ministered to, I sense that many of their ancestors escaped the abuse of cruel owners when they were allowed to sleep. That became a curse for them generationally.

The glorious end to this story is, in the midst of an economic slump these two sisters just doubled the size of their business.
