The Curse of Shadows and Tjorns is an ancient legend that has been passed down through generations. It is said to originate from a small village deep in the mountains, where darkness and danger loomed. According to the legend, the curse was cast upon the village by an evil sorcerer who was seeking revenge. It is believed that he used the power of shadows and tjorns, which are thorny vines that grow in the enchanted forest nearby. The curse was meant to bring eternal darkness and chaos to the village. The curse causes the villagers to live in perpetual darkness, with the sun never rising above the horizon.
Mistakes happen, and it’s all part of the creative process! If you make a mistake, try to find creative solutions to fix or cover it up. For example, you can use additional embellishments, washi tape, or strategically placed journaling to hide any imperfections. Remember, scrapbooking is about creativity and personal expression, so embrace the happy accidents!

When using the Magic Mat, try adjusting your pressure with 1 or 2 shims as needed, especially with more intricate metal dies until your cut is absolutely perfect.

Shadow Borders on the Creative Life Scrapbooking Blog Hop!
Today I wanted to share a simple 5 minute technique to make lovely pages that can still fit quite a few photos. I call it my ‘Shadow Border’. My first example uses the Majestic Mountains with the Genuine Collection, a layout that will go perfectly with my summer vacation photos. I’m planning a road trip visiting several National Parks!
- Choose 2 papers that coordinate, ideally one will have a darker side.
- Choose a border punch, or a border maker cartridge, that only punches along the edge.
- Punch along one edge of the paper you want on top. Flip the paper around and punch the other end.
- Cut one end off at 1.25″ OR, you can use the scoring blade and score at the same measurement.
- Adhere the big piece of punched paper to your background paper. If you cut off your bottom border, flip it and adhere it along the bottom edge. If you scored it, fold it up and adhere with repositionable tape.
- Accent with variety mats, embellishments, or stickers.
- I like to choose a darker print so that the top edge looks like the shadow of the bottom border, hence my ‘Shadow Border’.
