HALLOWEEN NAIL ART: Adorably Magical Speckled Witch Nails

I have to say, this year is definitely turning out to be the cutest round of Halloween nails I've ever done, thanks in no small part to a couple of fantastic stamping plates from Manitude, and I am definitely not mad at it. I knew when I started planning this year's raft of Halloween nail art designs that I wanted to do something really adorable with the witch and cat images from the ManitudexTooCuteToSpook stamping plate and I actually wracked my brains for a while on just exactly what I wanted to do. and then the perfect base polish arrived and I knew exactly what I was going to do!

So the color story for this mani really, really did come from the base polish. Included in August's Polish Pickup, Painted Polish's Mermaid Hair Don't Care is a white crelly packed absolutely chock full of red, purple, lavender, sea green and aqua glitters and like. she's so pretty! There's something about this base that just felt fun and playful and pretty much perfect for the cute witchy vibe I was going for. It also influnced me to go with the rest of the colors I used to create this design, which didn't match so much as they really just played well, if that makes sense.

For my base, I applied two coats of Mermaid Hair Don't Care and let those dry down.

I knew that I wanted to keep the reverse stamping cohesive across all of the nails for this one, so I used three main colors to fill in the images. The first is a cool charcoal grey that sort of stood in for black in this design. Next, i went with a really bright neon pink along with a neon fuchsia that ended up not being as bright as I had hoped. Also, for the witch's face, I wanted to keep her skintone close to mine, so I ended up mixing up my own skin tone (ish) using a white and a beige. I used a nail art brush and a dotting tool to fill in the images and let them dry down on the stamper heads.

Once I was ready to transfer the decals to my nails, I applied a thin layer of sticky base coat and let that dry down until it was tacky. Because these images are quite small in relation to my nail length, I knew I had to fill in some of that background to maintain balance. I kept it simple using some of the spiderweb images from that same stamping plate, and I applied them in bright pink, purple and blue sort of randomly at the edges of the nail. Next, I transferred the decals to my nails, doing my best to keep each of them towards the center of my nail.

Once I was happy with the design, I sealed it in with a nail art top coat and then finished with a generous layer of quick dry glossy top coat for shine and volume. And voila!

Magic and the guys who adore me

They bring me flowers, write me love letters, and even try to impress me with their own magical talents. It's flattering, of course, but it can also be overwhelming at times. I often find myself wondering if these guys are really in love with me, or if they're just infatuated with the idea of me. Do they see the real me, or do they just see a fantastical version of themselves reflected in my eyes? In the end, I suppose it doesn't really matter. Magic and love have always had a way of blurring the lines between reality and fantasy. Maybe that's why these guys are so enchanted by me – because I offer them a taste of that magical world where anything is possible. So, while I may not be able to perform actual magic tricks, I guess you could say that I have my own brand of enchantment. And the guys who adore me? Well, they're just along for the ride, hoping to catch a glimpse of that elusive magic that seems to surround me..
