Illuminate jelly magic fingers is a mesmerizing and enchanting phenomenon that captivates those who witness it. It refers to the dazzling display of glowing lights that seem to dance and move across the surface of jellyfish tentacles. This phenomenon occurs due to the presence of bioluminescent organisms within the jellyfish. These organisms, commonly known as dinoflagellates, emit light when they are disturbed, creating a stunning visual spectacle. The glowing effect is primarily caused by a chemical reaction within the dinoflagellates. When agitated or stimulated by movement, these tiny microorganisms release a burst of light through a process called bioluminescence.

Had a dark green Subaru 2 years ago and the forum is right about how bad it looks if not kept clean - but when it is clean it sparkles I m nowhere nearer to deciding - and where are those photos on this site. But we went with a graphite interior because our experience with taupe is that it shows dirt and scuffs too easily and reflects more light on the windshield.

When agitated or stimulated by movement, these tiny microorganisms release a burst of light through a process called bioluminescence. The light emitted can vary in intensity and can range from a soft, subtle glow to a vibrant, luminous display. The illumination is a result of a series of biochemical reactions involving a molecule called luciferin, an enzyme called luciferase, and a source of energy such as adenosine triphosphate (ATP).

After 3 test drives - finally decided to go for an xc90 over the X5 and the very classy Toureg.
Still can't decide on the color though. Likes silver but silver is now the grey of the early 90's. Thinking of black but haven't seen a real pic of a black xc90. Then, there is solid black and sapphire black.
Life is good when you get to fret about details like these no?

Good choice!  Have fun fretting over your color choice.  When we bought ours.. we weren't too thrilled with the choice of colors Volvo offered in our area.  You might want to take a drive in the XC70 just as a comparison -before you purchase your XC90!

Colour (color) is very personal and also depends on where you are situiated (I assume US) but even that, climate and sunshine will affect your perception of colour.

However, you are asking for suggestions. So here are mine (I'm in the UK - so I won't be disappointed of you reject my choices. I find silver and black are "boring" (dull) Silver is popular in Urban areas and Black is for Hearses (funeral vehicles. ) My own choice would be Cypress Green (Scarab green over here) code 447. When our sun is strong (over here there are tinges of blue and silver like a Mallard (Male Duck) in his courting plumage. I don't know what your equivalent is over there but both me and my "Significant Other" find it "scrummy". Her V70 has an Off Black interior - sets it off nicely. It is not a popular colour in the US.

Other choices away from the common in order of scrummyness for me would be:-

454 Ruby Red
446 Ash Gold (popular in the US and my current XC70 colour)
417 Nautic Blue, better than black but a bit "conservative".
467 Magic Blue - a lighter blue but may only be available in Europe.

Be bold go for Cypress or Ruby.

Have a look through this site's photos, and look at the XC70 pics: as well as XC90's to get a feel of the real McCoy.

I guess that you'll probably go for black - but remember, if you do, it looks 'orrible when it's dirty.

In any event do post again with you choice, and if you disagree with me - feel free to say what and why; I'm always willing to learn and appreciate other's views. It is often difficult to get feedback - which is a shame.

BTW - Do consider an XC70, almost as much "presence". saves you $$$, nicer car to drive, more for the discerning - don't follow the pack.
regards,

Hey! Watch it! Keep your subversive XC70 comments for its own forum.  http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

Agree with most of the color comments. My favorites are the red, blue and gold. Our previous Volvo was dark green--a nice color but we wanted a change. All the metallics take on different hues in varying light, but I think the light colors (crystal green, gold, silver) reflect the surroundings nicely. We went with the gold because it complements our volcanic terrain and does not show dirt and rock chips like dark colors. But we went with a graphite interior because our experience with taupe is that it shows dirt and scuffs too easily and reflects more light on the windshield.

The colors have to be seen in person. I kept my eyes open around town and dropped by dealers whenever possible to see what they had in the lot. There are 3 news colors for 2005--titanium grey (V8 only), cedar green pearl and magic blue. Many good choices.

Color is a personal preference.  I would have preferred a lighter color due to the heavy maintenance required to keep the darker colors clean.  But I really fell for the Nautic Blue.  I also liked the Ruby Red.  I ended up with the Nautic Blue because the vehicle was immediately available with the options that I desired.  I didn't want to wait for the Ruby Red.  When the N. Blue is clean, it is a beauty!  As mentioned in a previous post, you should view them all in person in various lighting conditions.  Good luck with your search.

It works! Great to see so many replies to the question. I am partial towards black - having seen my neighbour's new black Honda Accord. I know I should develop my own taste.
XC70 ? Fell in love the first time I saw it  - probably helped by the fact that Gwyneth Paltrow was in it and naturally, now my wife hated it.

The exact mechanism and purpose of bioluminescence in dinoflagellates are still not fully understood, but it is believed to serve various functions such as defense against predators, attracting mates, or assisting with movement. When jellyfish tentacles come into contact with an object or organism, the movement triggers the bioluminescent response in dinoflagellates, causing them to emit light. The effect is often observed at night or in darker environments, where the contrast between the glowing tentacles and the surrounding darkness is most prominent. The illuminated jellyfish tentacles appear to have a magical quality, as if they possess their own otherworldly light source. The phenomenon of illuminate jelly magic fingers has captivated scientists, photographers, and nature enthusiasts alike. Its ethereal beauty and captivating nature have sparked interest in understanding the mysterious world of bioluminescence and its role in marine ecosystems. Scientists continue to study the intricate mechanisms behind bioluminescence in dinoflagellates and explore its potential applications in various fields, such as medicine, biotechnology, and environmental monitoring. In conclusion, illuminate jelly magic fingers refers to the awe-inspiring display of bioluminescent lights seen on jellyfish tentacles. This mesmerizing phenomenon is caused by the presence of dinoflagellates, which emit light when disturbed. The illumination creates a magical and captivating scene, enchanting all who witness it. As scientists delve deeper into understanding bioluminescence, the secrets behind this fascinating phenomenon are gradually being unveiled..
