The Magic hopes to break ground on their impending $500M basketball precinct "by the end of 2024, finish in 2½ years and bid to host the 2027 NBA All-Star Game," according to Tom Friend of SPORTS BUSINESS JOURNAL. The Magic partnered with JMA Ventures and Machete Group to "design and oversee its own project." Financed by the Magic, JMA-Machete and eventually others, the Magic’s 8.5-acre, half-a-billion-dollar district is "expected to feature a 250-room hotel, multifamily apartments, a 3,500-seat entertainment venue, Magic corporate HQs, a major parking garage, retail and restaurants, and a centralized plaza, naturally, for watch parties" (SPORTS BUSINESS JOURNAL, 10/16 issue).

That plan also "included a 2,500-space parking garage that would have been built around a pedestrian plaza that stretched diagonally across the length of the property." The Magic had "carved out 40,000 square feet for its permanent offices," but with construction on hold, the team "moved its offices from Maitland to downtown Orlando in 2021." In the latest renderings, the parking garage "appears to be a separate structure at the north end of the property," and the hotel and apartments "appear to be combined into a single tower" (ORLANDO SENTINEL, 10/18).
